It is just a bad start, population will come back soon!

I think people have to understand that the games they compare it to have server instability. Actual server-related issues.

New World suffers game-related issues. From an outrageous amount of exploits and dupes. Then you add the bugs and glitches.

These are 2 fundamentally different issues.

Here comes the crazy part: They compare it to STEAM-related games like FFXIV and ESO that have their own client.

Looking at AGS as a company I am actually scared of Lost Ark release (a real TRIPLE A production) in the hands of… gulp bad history.

New World is currently Steam’s 4th most popular game. 24h peak of 360k players.

Do you seriously think if ESO and FFXIV have a different client they will not be part of the “most popular game in Steam”?

No.

This is NOT normal.
For ANY mmo

Yes…yes…huff millions…MILLIONS of CONCURRENT deep huff players yet struggles to break 8k on twitch. huff

And then dragged the window

By what metric are you measuring this “fact” number of clickbait articles?

People who normally play the game don’t want to watch other players play the game.

I never tried ESO but yea it has its own launcher and I have Tried FFXIV and I use their Own Launcher as you end up Paying £10 just to have the privilege of launching FFXIV through Steam launcher…yes Steam are charging you £10 to play FFXIV…even if its the Free Trial…
So Much Better to play FFXIV through their Own Launcher to avoid the £10 Price Tag Steam has put on FFXIV…

omfg. did you really just compare the all-time daily peak with the daily low-time population? You even drew a line? lmfao! And no one seems to notice?? xD
The lowest daily peak is at 357k at that is what you have to compare with. And by the looks of the very same graph you shared, it seems to be stabilizing on that number.
either you are really reaaaaally bad at statistics or you are a terrible troll.

It is. People like to try new games to get out of their current game routine. Given that the majority of MMO have their issues in the beginning, and that palyers are still playing their main game, which means they have surely a guild/friends who they play with, they go back to it.

Now with streamers, the first wave of players starting a new MMO, is even bigger as it’s a big window for publicity.

According to game population website sources, we have 300k+ active in prime time. Daily total players are almost 1 million. NW is on top in gamer activity charts. Towns are crowded, zones are live, finding instance groups is not hard, and i’m waiting 1k people every night  This situation? it is VERY NORMAL for every single MMORPG game. Don’t be panicked.

Same with any MMO.
Flawed logic.

is this bad faith, or serious?

comparing the maximum concurrency achieved at peak hours near release to the lowest time of day?

the 24hour peak was 359k and yeah its pretty normal

https://steamdb.info/app/271590/graphs/

any well marketed video game will peak concurrent users early, and have substantially less than that as time goes on. Concurrent users means players online at the same time. Not people who purchased, or played in the last 10 days.

Think about it slowly if you are actually playing the game…

you know what yeah it is flawed logic… if you have none.

Think about what you’re typing for one second. The game you are referencing has a viewership on twitch. It can be measured against other viewerships of the same genre. Do I need to really spell it out for you?

ikr? and these are the kind of people complaining about what devs are doing lmao. not saying that devs at AGS are perfect but Imagine THESE people as devs xD

I don’t know what you use twitch for. I use it to see watch gameplay and see if the game is worth buying.

Then I stop watching.

I think you are fundamentally incorrect about the magnitude of FFXIV when you compare it’s number to TWITCH viewers. But think about the logic here for a second. Again IF YOU ARE PLAYING THE GAME, you more likely doing that instead of watching someone else.

also ESO has an NA and EU mega server, so imagine just two servers holding lets say 50k people all together, thats alot

You take the peak players and the players in the morning, thats not really how that works. We still have 350k at the daily peak.

Is it normal? kinda. Once the hype wears off and people aren’t interested in the game anymore, people start to leave. New World also burns out people really quickly when coming from theme park MMOs. Add the permanent bugs and exploits and you have your reason why we dropped to 350k in almost one month.

350k is still healthy and a number I thought was good before the game launched. If AGS is able to fix the bugs/exploits in the coming months and can stick to the their roadmap, release new content the game will be awesome in a years.

Could go to shits aswell, though.
