OP should at least try to make a correct line =) lol
No I’m stating influencers are the reason why some numbers are clearly imploded. They bring the community with them.
That is why TWITCH is not a good source basing numbers. Just the same as me who watch Twitch to gauge playability and turns it off the moment I buy the game.
ESO, WoW, and FFXIV all have populations much closer than their respective fanboys would have anyone believe.
Believing internet journalist clickbait over actual statistical evidence is cringe. I’m not even gonna try to address that.
Agree on that… but the line from OP is wrong =) from top to bottom…, you either take line top - top, or bottom - bottom =)
they do not.
its literally not possible for their servers. maximum possible player connections per server is like 8.5k, they have 68 servers in total globally.
they literally can’t have more than 600k concurrent ever.
This depends on how you look at it. If we were to look at other random MMOs, this will probably look OK. However, if we look at high budget, successful MMOs this will probably look problematic.
There is also the issue of why people stopped playing. Currently there are game breaking bugs more so than there were before. Caster abilities do not register and I myself are not playing the game for that reason. I’ll keep playing the game if they fix these issues in a timely fashion. This should be achievable. And we can be sure that they want to fix the game as soon as they can. So, alarming but not the end of the day as people who paused playing will come back when these issues are solved (if it doesn’t take too much time).
There are also people who stopped playing as a result of lack of meaningful action against botters, abusers, exploiters from AGS. AGS either don’t take meaningful action against those or do not communicate the actions taken properly to the player base hence the feeling is “people exploit the game and nothing happens” which in turn encourages, or in some cases forces, people to abuse or exploit themselves which in turn creates a more unfair environment for legitimate players. If Amazon keep under-delivering in this part, the number of botters and exploiters will rise exponentially and it will be much, much, much more harder for Amazon to take proper action against those people. This is also an issue of “Vision” and speaking from past experiences, “Vision” issues tend to be much harder to solve. When the people who are supposed find solutions to problems lack the vision to do so, the solution they found tend to end up being a problem itself. Tricky situation to be at for sure and yes this is exceptionally alarming.
There are also people who stopped playing because “there is nothing to do at end game”. Although I think there are things to do end game when the game functions properly, I can certainly relate to people who claims otherwise. After all, when people abuse “invincibility”, “extra damage”, “extra movement speed”, “extra healing” during PvP or War that content becomes obsolete for legitimate players. Without PvP, Outpost Rush and War the game is really shallow and pointless to play. This is also alarming.
For an MMO to work, AGS needs to provide a fair environment.
For a fair environment AGS needs to provide a properly functioning platform and punish the offenders properly. Doing only one of these has not been enough for other games and it will not be enough for AGS either.
No fair environment = No success.
-
They need punish the people who exploit fast.
-
They need to communicate the actions taken to the player base effectively so that legitimate players know that exploiters do not get away with ruining their gaming experience. The in-game maintenance notification system can be used for that. Something like “xxx amount of players have been suspended and xxx amount of players have been banned from the game for details visit the Forums.” should work.
-
They need to fix the bugs fast.
All of the above requires work. I’m sure they have been working really hard. So AGS will have to find some time for the developers to take a breath too. They are also human and getting extremely tired will certainly make them more susceptible to do mistakes.
tl:dr It is alarming but not as much alarming as people make it out to be. The initial numbers are the “hype” numbers and current numbers are the “bugged” numbers. There will be a middle ground when the game is fixed. Or should I say if the game is fixed.
So their QFRs and their yearly financial report are clickbait too? “Actual Statistical Evidence”. LOL
Just honest question if Shroud had 100k viewers of New World now it has 20k population. What does that tell you? Explain to me with your intensive statistical evidence.
By responding you actually addressed it. OMG…
Makes me wonder how many people were abusing recent bugs and were banned.
I have never seen my server this empty.
Maybe people are taking a pause (cause I have nowhere to fit more resources for example) since the market is off.
I wonder how many will actually come back.
Your looking at the highest daily peak and the lowest daily peak. It is not 130k it is more like 350k.
ff14 has it’s own launcher, and since it’s cash shop is through their site/launcher not steam, no one plays ff14 on steam.
There are no reasons to talk about player base, the first random who created and account and played 5 min is a player. The only important thing is how many people are playing at the same time.
If you are interested in it, it seems that they are 16 millions of players (accounts created) ? and 1,6millions/days according to this site. But I have no accurate date New World: Number of Players Worldwide - Dot Esports
If you have more information about that, would be nice to share
“All-time peek” vs “Concurrent Players”
Look, 913k at peek, which was 913k players online at one time to play New World at “launch” which is a set number for the game but NOT to count player base loss thereafter.
Concurrent players is the number which returning players are online at any given time. This is the number you should factor daily, not “all-time peek” vs “concurrent”.
As of now, 125k players are online for “all” regions and it’s only 6:39am (EST) which 14k US EAST players are online as of now. Think about the growing number throughout the day. New World sustains at least over 300k players per day if not more. This number obviously fluctuates with maintenance downtime, which you do not factor in by the way. Also, new release titles from other publishers play a factor, like BF2042 BETA, New World took a slight dive for that. Now, consider the future of NW player base when BF2042 and other titles this and next month release, pretty sure we’re going to see a dip in player base, a loss? Sure, you can say that, however, those numbers could easily bounce back due to the state of newly released titles.
In any case, New World is doing great for keeping a concurrent player base. Understand that majority of players want to see New World succeed beyond numbers. We are in still post-launch after a month and yes, things are a bit shaky but, remember, WoW was not stable for five long years after launch. 1994 vs 2021, I get it, the tech is better, systems should be able to identify and resolve issues quicker, ect, however, there’s always going to be issues with MMORPG’s regardless how invigorating they are to players.
Give AG and NW Dev’s time to resolve these issues. They are coming. They know the demand is high but they can only work so fast to resolve the issues, they are human too, so, it’ll take time before New World is leveled out. We are still here waiting and will keep this ship moving forward supporting their efforts. We can’t fix the issues, they can. Let them work it out. You can still enjoy the game, even though there’s issues, at least it’s not unplayable to the point they need to shut the servers down until everything is resolved.

|2.|[Dota 2]|647,522||752,482|336,037,361|
|3.|[New World])|258,204|
I think they will be fine.
its should be from peak to peak
from 980k to 339k
I mean 600k+ , that peaks for itself
it was 300k yesterday, but still that’s a lot of players. This is not a normal drop off tho lol, this is a exemption to refund policy level drop off.
There are two Final Fantasy Online MMO’s, Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV. Final Fantasy XIV is likely the biggest MMO in the world right now so I doubt the numbers you claim are correct. Sounds like you might have saw numbers for Final Fantasy XI and got the two games confused.
No idea about ESO, but I can’t imagine NW doing better than it either.
Most MMOs do not have the leverage of Twitch like Amazon did.
They went way way way overboard hyping this game up and it is now biting them in the ass.
Empty servers make it hard to enjoy the game even if you want to.
1 month behind on patches and updates because they had to develope a transfer system on the fly after a promise was made.
Now server merges are necessary, like immediately after these duping exploits are handled.
Streamers were also given contracts stating they couldn’t criticize the game if they were paid to play it.
MMOs need organic growth, not manufactured like this one has gotten.
Who the hell wants to play on a server where you see the same 50 people every day outside of the weekends?
Who the hell really thinks the game is worth taking a free transfer and putting in the effort to re establish all of those social relationships?
