It is what it is. Thanks for the fun and GoodBye NW Forums!

Not sure we needed three weapons but I definitely found the in-depth post explaining the benefits of the stagger on hit system, posted several months ago, very interesting to read. It seems to me that the combat system had a lot more nuance to it back then and more to the point it sounded like PVP fights actually resulted in PVP deaths.

Which would have been way better than the horrendous “PVP” we have in the game now where the only time PVP consistently results in an actual outcome within a reasonable time frame is within duels. For the rest, it’s either hotpoint maths spam or the worst “PVP” I’ve ever experienced, which mostly comes in three distinct flavours: Hoppity skip, chase me around hill and dale, I can out-heal the damage of five of you at once or let’s see how many times we can both stun each other and keep ourselves fully healed with heal potions until we get bored.

I disagree with the hyperbole of the OP. No one was “tricked”. And buying any online game comes with the risks that the experience will change - anyone expecting otherwise is naive. But I do think that NW would have benefited a great deal had they not opted for the PVX system and rather used a split system so that PVP and PVE could be balanced entirely separately. I see no compelling evidence that this system is working.

Anyway, we’re too far gone for that now. I just don’t bother with PVP much these days and enjoy the PVE for what it is, which is mostly pretty fun.

Edit: Sorry, I decided not to just rant at the OP, tell them to gitgud, tell them to cry more or whatever, or get into petty PVP/PVE arguments that are purely tribal and help no one, and just decided to actually discuss the topic. Forgive me.

Dude why u keep create threads to talk trash about New World?

Ok, u’ve tried and u dont like it. Just move on.

Well it maybe feel like that to you, does not mean we think the same. I played a lot in the beginning, then stopped for 7 month and recently came back one month ago. One thing I can say is that the game really improved, with a lot less bugs & new content (even more coming).

Thanks to the devs for continuing to believe in it when everyone thought otherwise, the game is coming back to life and it’s great to see.

streamers hated it… because they died too often.

I think the issue is repetitiveness and rigid weird feeling unfun combo choices with the current talent trees and overall weapon combat including basic attacks (with the exception or the bow). Plus the limited builds that feel incomplete without a third weapon in PVE.

In my video gaming experience, it is usually the die-hard players, which never give up on the game, that play the most. Due to this, whichever content is most challenging for them is what they prefer to play and give the best feedback/most complaints about. Since PVP is almost always much more challenging than any scripted PVE encounter, PVP voices usually are the loudest, as players can be gear gapped, skill gapped or both, when they experience a PVP encounter. And, as much as I hate to say it, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I do think you have a very valid point about the PVE side of NW. I personally don’t find any of the PVE content very challenging and often enjoy solo-ing PVE encounters that are meant to be done in groups of 3 or more players. That being said, I would love to really have PVE be as challenging as possible, because the best growth comes through failure. Failure to overcome the encounter, whether PVP or PVE, is the greatest motivator, in my opinion, to improving one’s gameplay.

Keep up with your quest for better PVE content and maybe someday we will have challenging PVE in NW (again)!

Kudos~

They never presented it as full loot PvP game. They abandoned idea looooooong before they released the game. You have to read adverts on Steam before you buy a game, not checking 3 years old videos about the game in development

Milion people because of full loot, good joke  Full PvP games are dead, its absolute niche category within niche MMORPG genre.

This is a troll post right?

The game was a pure pvp game lmfao, you didn’t get tricked I to buying some pve game.

I do agree pvp a pve should be balanced seperately, literally just have two tooltips on skills that do slightly different things.

Theme park mmo market is saturated, people wanted this to be full loot pvp as that is something that is missing, and originally intended.

Pure pvp survival games are the most popular games at the moment.

MMORPG is a different genre than survival games. Full loot in survival games works because lost gear is extremely easy to replace. I know that, I got 3500 hours in ARK. I don’t care if my gear is looted since I got 50 replacements in base and I can craft mote whenever I can  I don’t care if my dinos are killed since I got new dinos ready. I don’t care if my base is destroyed since I have multiple bases across multiple maps. U got it? Full loot is fine as long as its easily replaced. In MMORPGs people like their character development and they like their gear.

And no, survival full loot pvp games definitely aren’t the most succesfull games. MOBA games and FPS games are, by far.

Can you name any succesfull full loot MMORPG? Stay within MMORPG genre, I don’t care about other genres. WoW? No. GW2? No. FFXIV? No. ESO? No. None of these MMOs which are definitely succesfull is full loot.

NW was presented as MMORPG when it was released. If you bought an MMORPG don’t bitch about it being an MMORPG.

Hardly. Nothing changed in PvE and yet NW population trippled over the past month and half. I am PvE player myself and I definitely stick around

Huge eye roll.

Wait, isnt this the second (that I have seen) thread like this that you have posted?

Yeah, just one day ago you posted this similar post. What is your goal here? Seems like you are more interested in stirring conflict than actually having discussions.

If it was only about discussing and providing feedback you should just stick to one thread and share your thoughts there.

Good luck on whatever game you choose next, I hope it lives up to your expectations.

:beers:

So toxic… Why does AGS need to do what all other MMO’s do? Why does NW need to be glamour fest like FFXIV? There are so many MMO’s with fine transmog systems. If that is all you are looking for then you have options. This game is not your typical MMO, so stop treating it that way. If enough ruckus is made for trnasmog, it will be added… In time, after more important things are taken care of first.

Ultima Online.

It’s a simple issue that should have had a fair solution, not one that makes the gameplay feel completely different and lacking/incomplete.

Succesful MMO man, please. Ultima has very low player population. Just like every full loot MMO. It has 4,5k daily players, NW has around 140k. So giving Ultima as an example is quite strange.

You should accept the fact huge majority of players simply don’t want full loot in MMORPGs. It is absolutely clear if you look at how many people play these full loot MMOs.

Did i say i don’t want Transmog or something>?
