New World was one of the best things to happen to me in a long time. Everyone knows that as you get older it becomes harder to devote time to video games, and it’s been a long time since I fell in love with a game like I did with New World. I first played the game on October 5th, and since then have logged a total of 303 hours, including a 6 day period where I was on vacation and didn’t get to play at all. It reconnected me with friends that I haven’t been able to talk to or play with much in years and that’s what really made this whole experience for me so special.
It started with 6 of us all discovering the game and immediately purchasing the game to start playing together. It was a ton of fun and we were all instantly hooked. We created a company that became the third largest on our server at one point, made a name for ourselves through world PvP and wars, and brought our faction together by creating an open discord for everyone to coordinate and connect through. I can’t even describe the feeling of being a part of a community like we were and how much it added to the experience of playing the game.
After a while though, our original group slowly started losing people. The standstill that you hit mid-late game of having 3 main quests in a 10 level span that lead you to "do this dungeon at “x5 recommended level” then “reach x0 level to continue” with the main quest became too tedious for some of the people. The grind of spamming town board quests or slowly doing side quests wore a couple of people out, and those of us that did make it to 60 had past experiences with MMOs and knew what we were getting into. They haven’t played the game since. However, we soon discovered that the minimal end game content was already being hindered by the fact that we had unluckily picked one of the lowest population servers in our region. At the time of this writing, we have 273 people logged on, and I have never seen that number go higher than 315 people ever. We play all day with pvp enabled and at most will run into 2 or 3 people a day with pvp turned on, and they are always just low level players wanting the xp boost. Outpost rush ques are over 6hrs long. No one wants to run end game dungeons due to orbs being so rare and them wanting to have a higher gear watermark before doing it. It’s almost impossible to get a group together to increase your watermark as well as the majority of the already low amount of 60 level players have already transferred servers.
This brings us to where we are today. In light of everything we discovered, we made a group and company decision to transfer servers. My original group of 6 players is down to 3, and a good amount of company members just decided to quit the game all together or take an extended break until more content is released. Unfortunately, I however am stuck on the server due to the auction house bug, and everyone I know and play with have moved on with no issues. This was 4 days ago. I log onto the game every few hours just to check and see if it’s fixed. It of course doesn’t work. We already had issues doing end game content, so imagine being stuck on a server with 300 max players at a time and trying to play this game by yourself.
My 2 friends on the new server are having fun with instant OR ques and no trouble getting larger groups together for other end game content, however, they have realized how behind our original server was due to the low amount of 60 level players and the low amount of end game content being done. They have stated that a large amount of people have 600 gear score items and are dominating due to being able to participate in end game activities. They’ve signed up for every war and invasion every day and haven’t been selected for a single one because of large established companies and them not being known. They already have around 550 gear score, while my watermark is around 505 and I won’t be able to do better than the full faction set I have for quite a while until I am able to increase my watermark.
I am already far behind my server and friends, and everyday that I am unable to transfer, is another day that I fall even more behind. One of my two friends is starting to lose interest in the game now, since basically all they can do is play outpost rush and hit trees with an axe all day. My concern is that it’s going to take weeks for Amazon to fix the bug preventing me from transferring and I will be so far behind everyone that it will ruin the game for me and I won’t be able to play anymore. I am absolutely shocked that they haven’t thought of the simple idea to have the option to just forfeit the gold you haven’t received from the sale and allow people in my position to move on with their gameplay. This issue was supposedly fixed days ago, and besides a statement saying they are aware of a continued issue, there has been nothing further said. I would gladly pay real money to have my character manual transferred by a developer or anyone, and that option sadly doesn’t exist either. Everything I have worked for and the time I invested into this game is turning out to be all for nothing, and everyday that continues I’m put in a worse and worse position.
PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!!
