It's impossible to appeal a "cheating" ban

I’m not currently banned & this is not an appeal, just a thread for conversation…

I play heavy bruiser (GA / WH), and I exclusively do OPR and wars (2000 hours played). Often I will do long OPR sessions (5-10 hrs). Mid December I was hit with 2 notices for “cheating” or “bot like behavior” which was pretty tilting, but whatever…

My current theory is that some people who hit a heavy bruiser with 4-5 shirking fort / res & all consumables just assume that I have to be cheating. I’ve had people in the past accuse me with stuff along the lines of “i hit you for 1/4 of what I hit the other bruisers, you must be exploiting”. If you run OPR long enough, you rack up enough of those miss-guided reports & hit some threshold where AGS trusts the reporters

I decided from then on I would stream all of my game play to youtube so that if I got another notice I could just provide the streams and they would clearly see I’m not cheating or exploiting. That way they can see my loadout, perks, armor & consumes being used. They can see that i’m not using some program that gives me any visual advantage. They can see that i’m not dealing unreasonable dmg & that I still take dmg like I should. They can see my stam bar work properly & watch me die plenty of times when I stam out. It’s all there for them to see.

And of course I got hit with a 3rd notice about a month later. In my appeal I sent in 23 streams, with over 100 hours of game play (I had even more but I hit the character limit in the appeal). 3 days later I got the same response “we believe the original disciplinary action was merited”

I’m at a loss. New world has false positive bans, they even admit it in their Q&A from 2 days ago: New World: Forged in Aeternum - Community Q&A (January 2023) - YouTube

If streaming all of my new world sessions isn’t enough, what is? It seems to be actually impossible to prove & if I keep playing I will just end up permanently banned

Easy, don’t cheat.

@Teamtom they literally talk about banning actual players by mistake in the video I linked, but sure dude, good contribution

funny thought though. humans are creatures of habit and practice makes perminant not perfect. if you repeat a process enough you are going to have muscle memory we are also very good at reducing unnecessary steps if we are on a time constraint. you know what can be easily programmed to be imperfect? a bot.
this is why I like the idea of bot reports being carried out in a different way. teleport bot reportee’s to a wall changing obstacle course similar to jindosh’s house in dishonored 2 a bot would roam that place for hours. but a human would pick up on visual queues and be able to navigate that but a bot would be stuck with very little chance of escape. just make that area a place where teleporting is disabled.

@superpebble yeah, anything honestly. I didn’t get a single private message from people asking me if I was a real person. I’m almost always in discord, so I’m not super active chat wise, but I always try to reply to DMs. I wonder if adding an input overlay or even streaming my hand/keyboard would change anything. Not that players should have to do that, but I’d happily do it if customer support will stop gaslighting all of my appeals

I’m not convinced they even watched any of the streams that I linked

ignore teamtom, guy is the worst player on yggdrasil and every third message of his is about mages/bows/healers people cheating. Think he even said someone was hacking their ping because his hits weren’t connecting.

Its possible the cheating ban went through because you had curse words in global/area chat in your history. Even if you dont cheat, and you get reported - someone looks at the logs and bans you for curse words. Don’t talk in area or global, and you’ll be fine.

maybe make use of the push to talk key when running by people during resource gathering. say hi or something, hum a tune or considering ags got rid of the sound affect of the rapiers fleche attack known as the fart. simply make fart noises in “the fart solidarity”

I had the same problem. Was logging into the game, message popped “Suspicious software detected, login blocked”, restarted my game and was welcomed with a permament ban for cheating. Spent almost 4 months appealing nonstop. Only way to get yourself cleansed from unfair ban is to reply to the email and include everything, logs, installed apps on your PC, what were you doing around the time of the ban.
They do not read tickets at all. If you attach files/screenshots/logs in the ticket, they won’t open it. You have to attach them to the reply to email where they ask you for more evidence.

I’ll just say, I’ve seen Amazon as a company have a terrible policy on bans.

They used to have discussion forums (news to most), and ran them in a way that if others ‘downvoted’ a user much, they’d ban them.

People know what happened, because large numbers were banned like this, and they all got the same form letter, after careful consideration you are banned for ‘spiteful posts’.

There was no appealing it. Lot of good innocent people banned from this.

Then if that wasn’t enough, the ban for the forum, was Amazon wide - no product reviews, no product questions - AND they removed ones you HAD made retroactively. Lovely company.

@ligma1 yeah I never talk in global, trade, recruitment, faction, or area chat. I even stopped using emotes lol

@superpebble not a bad idea, I know a lot of people that just leave it on in general because it’s easier for your party to see you when you have a chat bubble above your head

@Teamtom I play greataxe / warhammer, what benefit would I get out of an aimbot

@cytrus224 was it just your new world logs in %appdata%? also as far as installed apps, did you just provide a list?

@Petoften disappointing, but can’t say i’m surprised after all of this

They just have an automated system to fight bots. I’ve seen how a friend gets banned for bot behaviour after triggered people in opr messaging: let’s mass report him. He got back after the first one and got the same treatment until permanent ban. Appealing that took some time and he is back now but just know that the system it’s automated and you can get mass reported easily

Their customer support is the worst I’ve ever seen. I don’t even think that team are in the same building as the dev team tbh. They are 100 percent awful. I could careless what the dev video said, I bet if I were to sit down with scot lane, show him the bugs I’ve faced that caused loss to my characters and then show him the response his “ team” gave, he be surprised and seeing how he is in the video, try to figure out some way to help me.
