Jan Update: A Fatal Wound for NW

I know I will be classed as a Doomsayer here, but this update needed to awesome. To the point of being damn near perfect.

It is the farthest thing from it and probably the worst update to the game to date.

The good: Unfortunately the only thing I can list here is the idea behind the dungeon Mutators, adding variety/difficulty to the dungeons was sorely needed.

Well this and the minor changes to OPR.

However, the way they have been implemented has a host of negative affects. Which I will get too.

The Bad:

  1. You somehow had this build in the PTR for 3 weeks and didn’t think to first open the PTR with applying it to server with the current build. that one step would have saved you adding hundreds of bugs, game crashes and losing more players. No matter what people thought of the updates actual changes.

  2. You reverted housing tax before finishing mergers for lower pop servers. I am on Belovodye and we went to lack luster increase to 600 peak after the last mergers. We are now dropping below 450 peaks and will soon be at our pre-merge numbers. Almost every territory on our server relied on the housing tax from your “make good” to break even on upkeep, let alone make a profit. It has now made owning territory an economical burden for companies.

  3. Dungeons drop WAY too much loot and will have the following affects. Dedicated PvP players will now have to spam dungeons to compete in their preferred playstyle. Crafters have also been completely trivialized outside of armor smiths. You can now get a BiS 600 legendary weapons and jewelry in no time. After running a combination of (mostly) regular Gen’s/Laz’s, my group got DOZENS of 600 legendary drops. Including Infamy, Smoothbone Ring, Doom’s Chance, Creeping Recurve, Fury Firevine, just to name a few. Not including multiple drops of the new weapons. With one person getting Firevine to 610+ with only running two mutated Laz’s.

Speaking of GS, I was at 588 Average before the update, in about 5 hours of playing, almost everything is nearly 600.

I am also a 595-600 Engineer and will very rarely, if ever, craft something better then anything found in a dungeon now that a player cannot get multiple during the 3 day span I have my buff up.

TLDR: Players will be done with the PvE side of the game in a very short amount of time, likely well before the end of Feb. Then all that will be left is PvP and that area right now is sorely lacking, especially on the (STILL) low pop servers post merge.

AGS, there are a lot of games coming out this coming month. To include Lost Ark and Elden Ring, this needed to be a huge update. All my company could think about last night is how this game will be essentially out of content in the very near future.

You need to do better and it needs to happen soon.

You were 588 and you got to almost 600 in 5 hours play time?

Just to remind you, it takes about 400 Umbral Shards to upgrade ONE PIECE from 590 to 600.
400 Umbral Shards is about 8 runs of Mutated Lazarus level 2. (you can’t run any higher because you won’t be doing any damage at 590-595)

So you did 80 runs in 5 hours?
You should talk to Guinness.

Clearly you are the troll, or simply haven’t done a dungeon.

You get GS bumps from drops now between 590-600. You only need Umbral shards to go over 600 GS. There is an INSANE amount of drops, including named, that drop in these dungeons.

Try it, spend this evening in Dungeons and then come back and tell me I am trolling.

I agree. I had some hopes for mutated dungeons being a step in the right direction but with gear scaling, housing tax and all the bugs, I think this game is done for.

The devs have lost the little credibility they had. Patch is terrible and February will all be bug fixes and what not, so a good 1.5 month of no content except what was in this trash patch.

Dedicated PvP players are not even running these dungeons, if they were, they wouldn’t be dedicated PvP players.

Now, to your point, isn’t it insulting that all the BiS gear drops like candy while every1 else is screwed. Now that is just sinister.

That is flawed logic. In MMOs, dedicated PvP players will do what it takes to be on top of PvP, including PvE. They are not entitled brats who feel they should be entitled to the best gear, just by doing PvP. They do whatever it takes, because they are dedicated to be the best in PvP.

Replace dedicated with exclusive PvP players and then what you say would make sense.

Right there with you sadly. I was already thinking about quitting and I think I am going to a different game. This patch is awful, they’re making everything more grindy instead of adding more content. They don’t know what they’re doing.

You are talking from the standpoint of having 600 GS armor pieces & weapons, and just needing Expertise bumps to get to 600.

That’s all fine and dandy, but if you had 590 gear like me and many other people, you’d be in deep shit right now :slight_smile:

2 days ago, 590 gear was almost as good as legendary 600, only missing a perk and an attribute point, but nonetheless it was viable in both PvP & PvE.

Today, with 590 gear you can barely do level 2 Mutation.
At level 3 mutation, your damage drops by 50%, and you take about 50-75% more damage.

Well the question is, do you know what I was talking about?
Because my feelings are basically the opposite of his, regarding this patch.

And these are feelings that many other people have expressed today on the forums.
What he’s doing is putting salt on the wound, by saying AGS should’ve made it even grindier.

I ran half a dozen Laz yesterday including level 2 Mutated twice. Not a single legendary or useable gear upgrade. My legs upgraded to 598 and I think one other piece to 595. So not sure how you are all getting BIS legendary from every dungeon. I must be on the Devs sh… list or something.

I disagree with this - the problem is not the amount of loot, its actually the inverse, the problem is the crafting system. There is too much RNG or too much gold required (for the average player) to generate the “BiS” items which they are looking for. So at this point in time - its better to go with the named items which you at least have some hope in hell of getting.

PvP is dead →

  • There is no one flagging in world PvP - there is no point / reward
  • If you do find someone flagged - the rewards are atrocious - but I guess you can’t make them good because then the PvE players will cry to hard that PvP players have an advantage, but hey guess what - its coming anyway, because there will not be anyone around to group or play with.

My guild has left NW already, along more/others.

  • The OPRs are dead due to the ongoing - un-patched combat problems and stupid weapon imbalances - the VG root and the IG bug to name the most recent.
  • The ONE OPR map gets tiresome, let alone watching players PvE over fight, or the bots just looking for gold.
  • OPR - the rewards!!! Oh almost forgot about this… Against the rewards from OPR chests - just the same as Open PvP - ATROCIOUS.
  • Oh did I say it open world PvP - is pointless?
  • WARs are there for the special few who are in the main zerg guilds that control the map and roster.
  • Most of the people waiting to see some movement in the PvP sense spending hours dueling and gearing up have lost patience and left with the sting of the slap of across their face of the expertise and umb shards… (WHO THE F FINDS THIS INTERESTING?)
  • Oh yeah - The mindless zerg chest runs!!! - If only there was forced PvP in the LvL 60 zones to make the game more enjoyable/engaging.

I’m curious to see how any of the players lost are going to come back.

It feels like we have entered the MMO spiral of death… less players playing, leading to more players leaving because without population a “massively multiplayer” game don’t work

Dedicated PVP player here, you’re right I’m not doing these dungeons. I quit today in frustration. I’m not going to do hundreds and hundreds of dungeon runs to get my 3 different PVP builds up to 625, and yes I feel compelled to with the state of wars and the need for min maxing. I can only imagine how many people will quit when the realize the sheer monotony of this grind and the focus on pve gear to level your pvp gear. God forbid the devs ever patch anything that nerfs an ability or a class, lol, those people will quit in droves.

This was a terrible idea, forcing PVE on a what was a pvp centric game.

The devs of this game are very very PvE centric people.

I doubt they can make a competitive PvP system.

You should have sent Mr. Bezos an Xmas card with foot picks in it like I did. Totally worth all the time it took to get that hot-pink nail polish off.

Game is dead, this patch is horrendous. I don’t even mind, hurry up and die and set me free from this addiction. I can’t remember the last time I logged out of new world happy. I can’t explain to myself why I am still here at all. This game does nothing but punish the players.
