Jan Update: A Fatal Wound for NW

It’s not addiction to New World for myself, but the lack of alternatives. Most of the current big titles are years old, and they are beginning to show this in their graphics, and we have played them already for countless hours, often years. GW2 content wise is an absolute beast, it’s down right amazing, but the graphics are beginning to feel garish. So much glitter, so many effects. ESO is a bit easier on the eyes, but landscape quality just can not compare to New World either.

It’s more that I have really been ready for a new game, a game with the looks and promises of New World, and it is hard to walk away, a bit like when you have been in love, then come to realise the other is not what you projected upon them, but breaking away means giving up on the dream, having to start a new search. This while we know there isn’t really anything new out there mmo wise, and probably won’t be until Ashes of Creation, and it’s anyone’s guess when that gets released, if ever.

When you leave 1 run with 50+ weapons 50+ armor and 7 legendary drops, yes. The overwhelming flood of gear is honestly to the point of exhaustion. The Armor at the very least is Mutation specific so a lot will be specific use case, but the weapons… Everyone in the game that steps foot into even just M1 a few times can be 590-600GS that day. Then you can slowly swap in legendary drops and raise them up cheap with Umbral.

Beyond that nothing will sell that isn’t a Legendary. You can take 100 599 Epics out of M1 post them all for 300g and not one will sell. Pre-patch they would sell have sold for outrageous coin.

That is if you abused Zergs early and aren’t stuck grinding your Expertise.

Haha yes, another nail in the coffin for casuals or those who didn’t participate in the early rush.

So what’s the problem? Gear score chasers got what they wanted, casuals uninstall, seems to be working as intended.

Straight and to the point. :+1:

The sad part is mutators aren’t even difficult. The entire difficulty is from the recommended gear score penalty. If you don’t meet the recommended you lose DPS and take more damage per point difference. This is a massive handicap, but if you just grind up your GS to the recommended, each level is actually a snooze (this is based on up to M8. I have not done M9 or 10 yet but I suspect it will be a similar situation).

The only “challenge” is getting to 10 in the 2 orbs per week (assuming the 3rd was 1 time only) each player gets - that’s 10 for a static team which means you have to be perfect or try to buy lower level orbs. Pug players are pretty SoL unless they form their own static groups since farming low tier mutators is a waste of orb. M1 gives 40 shards, M10 gives 6000.

Please explain how orbs have “levels”.
I’m interested in making some coins off of GS chasers.
Can I buy orb from faction shop and sell maybe?

Yes man, exactly what you say, I said it in topics here before, no mod reply whatsoever. They do not care.

I would be interested to know the reasoning behind this change, @Luxendra @Kay @Shadow_Fox @DaYuKo @distantefix why make something that should have been an end game farming “rarity item - legendary” is now something you get to salvage because you just have 3 copies of the same item from running a dungeon for two days (Not kidding I have 3 misty kismet charms from genesis the first day after patch).

I have seen the argument from people that are not 600 GS in all their slots yet, not getting legendaries, well, once you get to 600 GS (which for me it took also only few genesis runs in total to bump from 590-600 in all my slots) you will see the number of legendary items is stupid high. This should have never make it to live. What is the point of every single person in the game having such a stupidly easy access to BIS gear?? Whats the point of crafting, or playing in general then. I liked that there is something not easily accessible in the game something rare that not everyone will get, now they made it so that every legendary droppable from dungeons is one to two day worth of farming item, simply a joke.

Except for non existent pvp - that will now get even more BS with everyone and their mom running the BIS items, there is no end game content. Gearing up to 625? What is the reason for that, who came up with this idea of “yeah we have broken game with thousands of bugs, why fixing them, we can come up with a mechanic that will push the uninteresting grind further, because that solves some of the issues”.

This! In all MMOS I had played, it was always the PVE Players who had been the spoiled brats. Some games as WoW tried to push them into PvP too, the outrcry was huge!

Turned out their repetetive dungeon rotation “skill” has no advantage at all in non scripted fights. (cough cough rotation scripts/bots)

They are nothing more than deluded big mouths

This definitely not the norm, granted I had a few orbs saved up to boost everything at least up to 592 before I started. But I was still 600 in multiple areas 6 dungeons in. Granted we ran a lot of Gen over Laz.

I am now 598 Average Expertise, will be 600 today for sure and likely have any BiS item I could want before the week is out.

Orbs themselves don’t have levels but you as a player can open levels of mutation depending on how high you’ve unlocked. If you have m10 unlocked you could sell your orb for much more than someone with m1 unlocked. I’ve offered to pay 35k for an M9 orb for example because my group has a few orbs remaining and I would much rather spend those on m10s

Hmm. I hate to be ‘that person’ but since you started it: “Exclusively allocated to or intended for a particular purpose” is one of the dictionary definitions of “dedicated.” “Dedicated” does not just mean the following: “Devoted to a task or purpose.”

I do, largely, agree with you, though :stuck_out_tongue:

I still think 1.1 was worse. It went from costing 5k to get a skill to 200 to about 50k

There is too much RNG or too much gold required (for the average player) to generate the “BiS” items which they are looking for. So at this point in time - its better to go with the named items which you at least have some hope in hell of getting

I agree with this. Mats cost way to much to craft gear. I made a full set yesterday, cost me tons including the timeless to just get Ward on the gear. It proc’ed so much stuff I will never use and not a single piece was 600 therefore making it worthless with the new umbral system/mutations. They need a way to craft with less RNG for the insane cost.

  • After getting 3 max trophies, the full armorer set, the timeless shards and using all my cooldowns for days I am left with 1k gold. I’m pretty sure I am going to quit the game. Leveling the trash I made isnt worth it at 400 umbral per piece and I don’t have the money/mats to gamble on more gear. RIP NW. – Oh and def can’t afford taxes anymore. Such a fun game. Wow.

Mutated expeditions was a good idea. But i dont like the idea of “force” players to play expeditions again and again. Some players like crafting, some like pvp, some like pve. Dont force to be playing expeditions all day…

This update is terrible.

I disagree. I think a new dungeon entirely and a Small increase to the drop rates like firevine and will of the ancients was so rare before it almost didn’t exist, would have pleased more crowds and would have been less limiting to casual players. I know plenty of people who are not even close to 600 gs . I tell them now the fastest way to get into mutators is to just craft voidbent since that was also devalued

Tier 3 mutator you need plauged strikes on a weapon and a void gauntlet and the dungeons work off scaling. How many players have access to high gs weapons with those perks ? Not many.

The already strong will get stronger. The weak will be weaker

Also. We are only named armor drops away from the entire economy crashing

I’ve seen many poor design choices… this one has to rank near the top.

I am just stunned. And the lack of testing…

I think it is off to try out Valheim for awhile.

it was planned from the beginning the boost of expertise guaranteed after having defeated a boss…
So yes, it’s logical that you go from 590-600 quickly.
Now we’re at the 625 rush, what don’t you understand?
