I really wonder if we shouldn’t have a thumbs down option. Having a like option without having a dislike option seems a little weird. Besides it would give people a better feedback on how others like their postings.
Because people are … Well … People.
With Things like downvoting something because they didnt like a Thing done to something different but from the same company.
Considering the day and age we live, things like a thumbs down button triggers people so much that they’re removing them from everything. Even youtube is removing the thumbs down button.
Grown up watching things like Southpark or Beavis and Butthead I’m really having a hard time to understand why everyone is always offended by everything today.
I can give my opinions on it, but it’ll get flagged because people who are the problem don’t want to be identified as the problem. It’s just like how 1-2 decades ago they started giving out participation trophies to not upset the people that didn’t come in any place during a race or game, except it’s gotten much much worse in the last 10 years. Younger people are too used to getting their way, and people are too afraid to tell them no.
nah. i think giving people freedoms such as voting is a mistake.
OMG Beavis and Butthead were the bomb! Me and my dad would literally be rolling on the floor laughing and mom would get so pissed
That was back when mtv actually had some music to play as opposed to this computer generate auto tune garbage of today.
I was going to say something along the lines that it doesn’t fit the narrative of ‘even the losers win a trophy’. lol
We don’t need a thumbs down button. For the most part, crap like that gets abused.
For example: I asked, on a VR subreddit one time ‘What are people’s opinions on VR headsets. I’m looking to buy one and want information from people who have one. Thank you in advance.’
Within the first hour, I had around 10 downvotes.
People responded; they were downvoted.
I replied with thanks, and asked more questions on things I did not understand; I was downvoted.
People answered those follow-up questions; they were downvoted.
It was, literally, a civil discussion with helpful answers to my questions, in a subreddit for such questions, and yet some group of low-IQ trolls was lurking around, lowering people’s karma with random downvotes.
Leave the post ‘downvoting’ to reporting problematic posts. That way, people misusing it can get in trouble, which never happens with a garbage thumbs-down system.
Why do we need likes or dislikes? Have a god damn discussion without degenerating into straight up insults. Like a fucking adult would.
That’s why we have no dislikes. As a whole community, we barely deserve these forums because half the time it’s just a bunch of angry people just being angry at each other. It serves no purpose and inspires no discussion.
Don’t you think the real issue in that case was/is the karma system? I’m NOT asking for something like this, in fact I hate the karma system a lot!
I feel like rather than Like/Dislike buttons, an actual moderation team made up of real people who actually enforce the CoC would do alot more good.
The karma system encourages it, but even on older forums with an up/down-vote system; some trolls will downvote everything because they can.
We don’t need that in this forum, of all places.
