I can agree that there’s lots of work to still be done, but the important thing here, as compared to other games, is that the Dev team is really listening to feedback provided by players, through the various formats. While they may not make all the changes that garner the most attention on the forums or in-game chat channels, this is still a much more responsive team than other games I have played. Could they all do better? Of course, no one is perfect, but they are doing much better than they were a year ago. The game is in a vastly improved state, QoL-wise, so once returning players adjust to the changes, I think most of them will enjoy it.
As far as the numbers go, I expect them to keep growing, as they have been over the past 2 months, until Brimstone’s release, at which we will either see them continue at the same rate of growth or, and I think this is the more likely scenario, if the Brimstone release goes well, the rate of growth will actually accelerate.
These are my opinions, of course, so I might be wrong, but that does nothing to dampen my hope that the numbers keep growing and that AG continues to put forth the effort they have been in turning around the direction that NW was headed, prior to July, as per the above numbers.
To be fair he is probably right since there are several big streamers who will jump on fresh start once it is out. People like summit. asmongold even shroud. So its not a lie that there is deffinitely gonna be a surge of thousands of people who will come to the game once fresh start launches.
However, it will be a total shit show. massive queues. Server locked. Then the outcry to open new fresh start servers. and as we all know, these variety streamers wont stay active in new world for long. Maybe a month or two. and then the servers will die out for the most part and get merged back into the normal servers anyway.
I dont think AGS are stressing to release fresh start just yet. They are focused on launching brimstone which is a much better priority for quality players and player retention than fresh start.

I’d argue that fresh start servers + revamped lvl experience is attracting WAY more players than the Brimstone release itself. Ingame you have trains now literally every hour in several places.
These are mainly all returners with GS under 600. It’s a ton of players.
Those who “stuck with it” are pretty much the minority of this game at the moment.
The word is out on the net that New World isn’t the dumbsterfire it was on release anymore.
Since the vast majority quit at 30-40 you could argue that fresh start servers and their wish for it as a “requirement” to give the game another chance is just as important as the proper launch of the new area.
Yeah thats a fair point totally. And I agree they need to release fresh start soon. But we all know the fresh start servers will be a total chaos and many people fail to consider what a fresh start economy looks like.
If people just knew how good the normal servers were now they’d probably opt to play on them instead of fresh start once they come back to the game. The sweatiest min/maxers with thousands of hours will dominate those servers since moment one. And the poor schmucks who never played before or havent played in a long time will struggle to make gold in the beginning.
On the normal servers its super easy to make gold for anybody. I think they just want to release brimstone and make sure that it is stable and probably try to to make the old players invested into their main characters by the brimstone release. Then launch fresh start servers slightly after the brimstone patch. that would be my guess.
Most people asking for fresh servers are VERY aware of those issues.
People here repeat those as if players have no clue. They do. But they still prefer to start on those servers.
But yea it’s gonna be a mess. The OW2 release with 40k queues is a good reminder that other games start in the same way.
With more communicaiton this wouldn’t be an issue.
I agree. the lack of communcation is absurd. I think the fresh start stuff took off like a wildfire out of the blue and ags wasnt ready for it at allll.
Just imagine how swamped they are with the brimstone release then suddenly fresh start server topic BLOWS UP on the forums. Then one community mod responds to the idea and boom. tons of bigname streamers both within the nw community and outside are talking about it and making it sound like its coming in a few days/weeks just pouring gasoline on this wildfire.
What I don’t get is that…when you have players that left wow or other games for long periods of time and then come back en masse when there is an expansion or dlc coming out…they don’t bitch and whine about new servers. They log onto the already and existing servers and keep it moving. These servers that have been online for years! So what’s the big deal about new servers here. Yeah duping/exploits (which happens in every MMO, and is gonna eventually happen on the new servers)…but so what. The devs aren’t required to create new servers for a bunch of players that will more than likely quit and move on as soon as the hype dies down.
Just look at the yt comments. 80% talk about fresh servers. Most returners or new players wait for those. And for a good reason. You have enough topics explaining the whole thing.
For me it’s baffling to not understand it.
It’s the same why OW2 is so massively played right now.
It’s basically the SAME game which was online the whole time. Yet suddenly a TON of people play.
Hype and being part of a bigger community have always been key for any online game. But as said. Tons of topics on it
Yep, I am one of these players, started back about a week ago, then a few days ago I saw a guild saying, “we will be playing fresh.” Looked it up, and Insta logged. Now just waiting for the announcement but yea losing interest as other games I play have fresh start as well.
This may be true, but as a returning player, I still have the bad taste of item and gold duping in my mouth. IMO servers and economies were ruined. I might be wrong but again, I am a returning player, and this is probably how most people feel.
I feel exactly that, cant be bothered with server economy right now, want to have a fresh economy, server and all that ‘new’ launch hype.
also new player experience, low level pvp is what i want to have fun with so there’s that
I really do hope you are saying this about the people on forum constantly making new posts about fresh start servers, not AGS, as they have been saying nothing about new fresh servers, no accurate info. It’s you people that are making assumptions and it’s you that are missleading and confusing new and returning players about fresh new servers by making 10 posts daily about it
