Because people used to go AFK all the time which heavily inflated queue times and this would enable the same behaviour (queue times are not so much a problem anymore of course, yet still).

Their AFK check is a simple “did the player moved within x min”
So you could be chatting, fishing, re-skilling weapons/attributes, funneling a bunch of stuff into the AH or crafting and still get the AFK check activating …
Its at best a Band aid fix until they come up with a better System

Actually fishing doesnt get it if you actively fish. Also you dont really need to move. Just doing action works. Even simply harvesting aka press E(default) if you sit next to resource.
Even crafting if you press craft button instead of sitting on recipes window for 15min.

well was fishing yesterday for about 1h 20min and didint get that message. Fished till hotspot ended and then kept fishing there with baits.
I have received the AFK message while fishing on several occasions. It is very annoying. Also while crafting.
agreed i got kicked while being on the trading post checking gear and weapons. kinda crazy i didnt even get to see the message because well im browsing gear lol
