It gives a warning on the top-right corner for me while idling in town but I don’t fish yet…
Just got kicked for this same reason lol
So now the player like me who only plays as intended, therefore I avoid activities that has people playing not as intended, loses my only ability to make gold. Not only that, those that already botted to riches will set the market. So I can’t do anything but sell mats for a penny as someone’s bitch. Or I have to join a town to be some streamers bitch . I don’t think I am liking this game much. Fantastic gaming engine, terrible game.

Yes, I have been kicked about 5 times now. All while fishing. Turning and fishing different angles, different lures, only thing is I did not move from spot
Dang ,come on make the system smarter. Bots shouldn’t have to ruin fishing. There are many of us who find the fishing fun and relaxing .I could do it for hours
Oh it got me while crafting. I was crafting 152 boots and I guess it took longer than the AFK timer. LOL.
if you left click your mouse right after you finish reeling it skips the unhook animation.

Not exactly sure, didn’t precisely time it, but I think it probably was just the regular AFK kick timing. Now just without prior warning really. In that time I basically did nothing else than fish, rotate camera, fish, repeat. No moving, no exit fishing mode for anything, no bate changing.
Sort of to see the ‘AFK’ kick myself.

Happened to me today also, I’ve fished longer before and it’s never happened.
Agreed. I got kicked out for being AFK while browsing the market.
You know, because the geniuses at amazon games did not put much filters or ways to search gear without forcing you to look at every goddamn item just to see if it has the right attributes bonuses or the right level/armor protection/weapon damage you need.
as for fishing… they do need to make it more interactive. Even FF11’s fishing was more involved than this.

Hopefully since the servers have kind of chilled out, some of this AFK detection can be either reworked or have a longer delay timer. I know bots are up on the list right now, so hopefully this gets considered alongside however they deal with them.
I got kicked while fishing last night while I had like… and INSANE rare legendary fish on the line… uh… but the server made me lose it… but it was huge just like trust me dude im not lying i had a screenshot but my dog ate it

Yeah I was in town chatting in discord and going through my loot from our dungeon and elite run checking things for stats and putting things in my storage and boom you’ve been removed for being afk… I was like wtf… I was actively doing stuff in game. I was not moving around the game world but I was actively doing things in game… Seems a bit over zealous of a mechanic

I had a one button macro to fish in FFXIV that I didn’t even have to look at the screen to use, just hit whatever I had my macro hot keyed to whenever I heard the catch sound. The macro would reel pause for a few seconds to wait for the animation to finish then auto cast for me. This was all using FFXIV’s in game macro system.
I was fishing normal, yes i went to a very high level area to fish and took the risk vs reward to get there. I was fishing to get some higher end fish, and was booted for being afk fishing? in no way that was true i actually was there pressing buttons etc… Kicks you from game with a warning, and i just about freaked out for just playing the game.
So i assume they changed the code to warn/boot anyone not moving around the map?
That’s why I said FF11 not 14 
. 14 is just SEnix’s rabid try to copy world of warcraft and give it an FF skin. It made money but it failed as an FF game imo. 11 was their biggest gem.
…and fishing in 11 had the player fighting the fish left/right/up/down and watching for signs of tiredness on the line… no silly indicator or magic icon above your head telling you how tired the fish was.
Archeage fishing was also fun albeit a bit clunky in the interface. I actually leveled a character from 1 to max level just by fishing XD
