Lag/Desync since 1.05

Windows 10, I7 8700k, 32GB, Various Samsung SSD, game is installed on an 850 EVO I believe. KFA RTX 3090 (underclocked slightly and power limit set to 70% to prevent catastrophic failure from New World.

Game is basically unplayable due to desync and ‘rubber banding’, I think since 1.05 it got much worse but has always been present. It tends to get much worse in PVP.

This is not the input latency bug (seems slightly different) that other’s are experiencing as my input latency is around 40 and doesn’t seem to go much higher. Outpost Rush is prime candidate to replicate the bug, even with a GAxe it is almost impossible to hit people due to desync. Hits don’t register, I will charge and then 2 seconds immediately teleport back into someone’s ice wall or such. Makes PVP impossible to enjoy and I have no confidence that people are where the game shows them to me.

My internet is fine, 100mb down 10mb up. No packet loss, Completely rock solid in other games. I have tried all the suggested fixes on these forums with no joy. Resetting my router did not help. I have tried port forwarding on my router, new drivers and all combination of video settings. Analytics is ‘off’.

Other people do not seem affected by this issue and it as completely sapped the fun out of playing so I will no longer continue to play until it is fixed. I think the issue is server side in all honesty.

Posting here for any support or updates as to whether you are aware of the issue and when a fix might appear.

Thanks for your time

Hello, you are not alone:

Not sure whether my CPU usage is spiking. I will keep an eye on it and report back

CPU usage is not spiking during gameplay by much. It does go to 100% usage during loading weirdly and when in crowded areas such as Windsward and Everfall.

What I have noticed is that the moments where the game will freeze momentarily coincide with largeish spikes in network throughput (inbound) but unsure if this is anything unusual and the total network usage never goes much above 1mbps when playing new world.

Urgh, can’t face playing when it’s so laggy

Hello @felrider,

I am Sorry to hear that you are having rubber banding issues.

Can you try this troubleshooting:

1-From the Start/Windows Menu, select Settings.
2-Select Network and Internet.
3-In the Status section, under Change your network settings, select Change adapter options.
4-When the Network Connections window opens, right-click your network connection.
5-Select Properties.
Scroll to Internet Protocol version 6.
6-Uncheck the Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) box.
7-Select OK to save your changes for the selected network adapter.
8-Try launching the game again. A PC restart may be necessary.

I am now playing on a 3 month old Lenovo Legion 5 Pro. 8 core Ryzen, 32ggb, and a 125w RTX3070. Guess what? It does exactly the same thing. Rubber banding, desync all over the place.

I have given up on this game. I am not going to try troubleshooting further when the issue is clearly server side and the netcode.
