Latest Forged in Aeternum

After the latest Forged in Aeternum, I wanted to say thank you to the amazing people that do sound design :slight_smile:

People like Jean-Edouard Miclot (and the rest) are the reason why I’m still playing this game and I’m still enjoying it. I profundly dislike the people in charge of player character agency (whoever made the character creator especially… ), but the people that made the environment, the sounds, the lighting and so on… are simply amazing and are carrying this game on their backs. The audio director (Jean) speaks with such passion about the things that he has done, which is simply amazing, this passion does come through in their work.

At some point, he said, that we the players “don’t even know of the languages” the enemies speak, and I wanted to say that we might not consciously know, but we notice it subconsciously, together with the other parts of the environment, is the reason why this game continues to recieve such high praise when it comes to these aspects. We play the game and we might not pay attention to every single detail… but they all come together to offer us an amazing experience.

I can only hope that one day they will manage to hire people as passionate and as good at their jobs as those that did sound/enviorment for the character agency too :wink: [yes it is a jab, because its like a knife stuck in the side of this game, continuously dragging it down].

Anyway, thank you again for putting in such amazing work and providing us with such an amazing product, keep up the good work and know that even thou we might not consciously notice all the little details you put in ur work, we subconsciously notice them and they are very much appreciated.

The guys on sound and ambient design should mutiny and take over the skins design; even if they don’t even try, they will do a far better job for sure.

Sounds and open world (even with the multiple copypaste areas) are amazing, and set a very high bar for everyone else, and then they come up with a cucumber aubergine colored skin that hurts the eyes of anyone that even dares to open the shop.

They were saying something about dyeing skins… so hopefully that will help with the hippie colours when it eventually comes to the game (would assume it will take them like 5 more months at least).

But yeah skin design, character creator and in general everything related to character agency… is just worse then everything else, and personally i dont mean its bad because everything else set such a high expectations. I mean its simply bad even in a void.

I rly don’t understand how they can have such competent people for some things like the enviorment and monsters and all that, and they do not let them work on the character agency part as well… or if they do, they direct them to produce such poor work.

I didnt watch the video yet but I will say the sound team for AGS is absolutely stellar. I will never forget how amazed I was running around and hearing somone mining a node or chopping a tree way off in the distance. It was so immersive and truely incredible.

It definetly seems like they put in a lot more work then normal games do for audio, I remember Jean spoke a long time ago (in a different video) about how they managed to make the weapon sounds (which in my opinion are pretty good as well) and how he initially wanted to record actual weapons just to realise they sound terrible :slight_smile:
