My one time! solo effort to get on the pve corruption portal leader board.
Was a grind, and fun in a strange obsessed demented way…
(and i will never do it again LOL)
We have someone at about 1million points on my server. I was hoping to be top 10 but it looks like it would be a fulltime job to compete with everyone.
I mean that is the nature of how these leaderboards are. Typically all it will take is playing the game more than others. Not much skill involved in any of them (other then the Muts) most everything else is just constantly grind one piece of content over and over for 3 months to get rewards
Just so you know, a lot of the leaderboard metrics are not cumulative, but how high you can score in a single instance of whatever it is. Take “opr npc kills” for example. The metric is how many npcs you’ve killed in a single match, not the cumulative amount of npcs you’ve killed in all oprs you’ve ever played.
Ya but there are no rewards for this. Anything with rewards aside from Mut based on time is based off of time played. You’re correct that certain categories track High score in whatever session, but does that matter if not rewarded?
I mean… I guess? The skin sucks, so I doubt people care, but at the same time from a PvP side it’s turned both 3s and OPR into worse states than they were prior to this patch which is impressive.
But the fact is the awarded leaderboards all reward for time played (except Mut times)
Ah thanks, so 2 of them are skill based. The rest are time spent.
Problem for me, specifically on the PvP side.
Problem for PvP boards is at some point a 40 man company is going to fill stack their own OPR (we do company OPR nights and can get just our company in) and now if that company wanted could own every single leaderboard OPR category. Someone will do it, it’s easy, just don’t cap the points and profit
I’m pretty much ignoring leaderboards as any kind of content. The only one who really cares if you are on the leaderboards is you. Some people might see your name, but in their head they will just think “who cares” at best, and “no-lifer” at worst. Don’t mean this to sound harsh, and I probably should have just kept it to myself. Just the reality of this new mechanic as I see it. But hey, if you manage to get on the leaderboard by just playing the game and having fun, kudos.
I’m personally glad to see new world adding play that didn’t exist before, that some will enjoy for playing the game or use it as competitive measuring stick with others.
All good! Its a start on more complex.
New World should continue to be like that, a wider possible point of activities someone can find that suits their gameplay.
