Leaderboards and false Development

Rankings are the most unnecessary thing New World has ever released. Why are development hours invested in such a system? The system promotes an obsession that takes away the motivation for any casual player to achieve anything.
Why bother if after endless grinding with BIS gear you still don’t feel like you’ve accomplished anything.

My experience with leaderboards:
For example, I farmed 10 orbs for an arena to place me roughly in the list at the beginning. After that, I searched for people with orbshift 3 times and got ripped off each time. Not bad in itself, but the same people have now made it to #1 and #2. By constantly scrounging orbs, pushing them to make new orbs, buying all the resources for them from MP and hiring them back at a high cost, and then finally insulting the orb donors when they won’t shell out 10k for an orb. Of course, the top 5 also includes toxic DDs who then flaunt their chest armor in town. I’m not generalizing anything, I’m criticizing AGS for further fueling toxicity through such competitive systems.

What has been your experience with rankings so far?

I am not in favour of leaderboards currently as they
A) Make it known WHO does the most damage, but they still don’t put in a damage meter
B) Are in favour of unbalanced weapons
C) Are in favour of modern systems as they have the least FPS issues

Generally… i have nothing against leaderboards. Why should i. Its just a feature that provides something for people to compete in.
I love leaderboards. I love the concept of leaderboards. I just wish there was more dynamic content in which people could engage in. Like weekly dungeons and the like.
But mutations are kinda weekly dungeons… then again. Its not NEW content.

I am more burned out over the fact, that its so hard to add content to this game…
I hope the season pass has quests… if it doesnt… i just know.
I also really really desire more lore.

There are different creators… so i doubt the team that created that had too much to do with content.

AGS are making the game more toxic with all the changes they make that is disrupting the community, they are making all the wrong changes to weapons in pvp… The fire staff flamethrower need nerfed spear and dex in general need a nerf… They are a cancer to this game and are ripping the community apart with this

That are here for the money not the work, no respect to the pvp community what so ever

A) People complain they dethrone a Meta
B) People complain they are reworking weapons
C) People complain that it takes time
D) People complain they must have something against the community
E) People complain it must be the pvp community which has its own reasoning

  • a) this frigging meta has had a gatekeeper effect and is a reason why you call it a community although its a fraction
  • b) you are prioritising the pvp community over a GS
  • c) you guys actually complained right after the changes instead of playing them out and making constructive criticismn

F) Yes weapons will still have problems. But guess what… most FS players actually don’t want to play flamethrower and thats why they left the game because there was literally a gatekeeper community active and nobody was able to join anything. I have seen it in my company. I still see it in other companies happening. Only the best players the cream of the crop is allowed to play FS as an assassin… which is not its jobs and is the reason why it gets a rework, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that every derp played GS

G) Things change, get over it. You are literally complaining about the devs working on it because they recieved huge backlash and constructive criticismn.

H) What this community needs is people analysing it. And to be very fair just find those people and support their comments IF you understand them. Blindly clicking also a reason why this community is toxic.

In the following I would like to objectively respond to your statement.

I don’t agree on this. AGS provides a platform that should be regulated in the right way. We all paid for and supported the game, so we as consumers have the right to give reasonable feedback. Even if certain content is only desired by certain groups, it is important to remember that the content exists and needs to be managed.
You have to remember that there is a huge team behind AGS that should deliver more consistent content over time. If you look at games like Planetside 2, for example, you can see the difference in organization, communication, and planning.
Like you, I’m happy about the new ptr changes, they set the right direction for meta changes.

Ultimately, we all stumble over the same point of criticism: lack of transparency and incorrect prioritization.
