The biggest issue I have with the folks deciding what to do and what not to do with NW is that I have noticed that some of the most influential people within AGS have never touched WoW before. I have watched them struggle to find where the mount button is in the game and how to do basic things.
How are we going to cater to the mmorpg community with this complete lack of understanding of the basics.
The first thing FF14 devs did was play WoW from start to end.
If you don’t wanna sub to the live game, I suggest you create your own private classic WoW server and play internally starting with the vanilla game.
buddy whos a whale was on a recent investor call with Amazon; investors want to know why the games monetization isnt offering boosts and better cash shop incentives as that model is the best for quarterly revenue generation.
Needless to say the QER will dictate the monetization of the game after the PvE revamp.
Im fine with it of course games are about making money which is why the developers switched gears from the original design in the first place.
There are many ways to monetize without involving player power or progression. Let’s think of a few ways besides what we currently have in the shop:
Character customization
1.1 Facial changes
1.2 Hair changes
1.3 Name Change
Transmog system
2.1 Pay for a token that allows you to convert an gear piece into a cosmetic item
2.2 Pay for a more expensive token that allows you to convert a complete gear set into a cosmetic set
Mount system
3.1 Buy mount skins
3.2 Buy skins for mount equipment
Swimming/Diving system
4.1 Bikini skins
4.2 Tool skins
Toys
Building profession
6.1 Buy a physical land for yourself (non-instanced)
6.2 Buy a physial piece of land for your company (non-instanced)
6.3 Buy tools/things needed to build something really special and unique
More character slots
Faction specific cosmetics
Farming/gardening tools/plants…etc
Add the above features/systems only to paid expansions that get released once every two years.
Go play other mmos then. The world wasn’t built around people sitting on giant dragons. All of the pathing was built around people walking to places. This game would be outrageously ugly and just lose it’s identity because everyone wants every damn game to be exactly the same.
Not saying we should have dragons everywhere, just one dragon boss would be nice to have. Just because NW doesnt have them, it doesnt mean Im gonna go play other games…NW is the fresh new immersive world many have been waiting for.
For mounts, horses only would fit well, anything other than that would start to look out of place and the more variety there is the more the entire mount collection gets devalued. Which is exactly what happened in WoW.
There is something special about having a very limited number of mount types that you can customise but without completely altering the original look.
Idc if it’s hopes and dreams. It’s a good asf list
For me it would be 4 things.
Wars accessible like OPR and gear matters fully, max 5man groups(or maybe even max 2ppl).
Set loadouts to chose
Bigger Mobvariety
Shop rotation is way too long, more skins, more ingame variety of looks. Skins could be like 20% cheaper to actually get them sold. People literally just buy stuff for the sake of looking a lil different even a year after. Like cmon, this is how you make money. Just look at league lol
That’s… not what she said? I guess I see how the rest of the list was generated.
She was referring to an easier way to transfer when the server is full as right now you have to log onto the server to transfer. (I would personally assume through some store method in the launcher.)
I love the fact that they’re scaling players to 600 gs in Arena and opr. This is a amazing change that will make pvp more accessible. But I think not scaling down the players who has 625 back to 600 is a mistake that will bite them in the ass later. They’re creating more work for themselves when they do inevitably increase the gearscore higher and higher. Sure, they can adjust it, but at that point, they might as well make 600 the standard gs for pvp. Even if it’s a small advantage, it sets a precedent that caused Players like Joshog to irreparably destroy low level pvp early in the game’s release because they think their gear should matter more than their skill.
They are not scaling down 625’s to 600 and letting them have a slight gear advantage with the extra 25 gear score plus whatever powerful perks they might have because they worked hard for it.
Quite Franky, I don’t care if they work hard for it. Gear doesn’t translate to skill. If people want to work hard? Work hard actually doing pvp instead of bribing someone to help get umbral shards. Try to improve your skills, take on tougher challenges. Climb the ranks.
I want to stress, I think the 600 gs scaling is an amazing idea. The 625 gs thing, while seem negligible to everyone else, again, sets a precedent I don’t agree with. Pvp especially becomes hard to balance, (If they’re not struggling with it already.) if there’s no equalization to keep the power creep at bay.
Fully agree, but AGS has certain influential people within it who have a differrent way of looking at things and only start to believe that change is needed when there is a mass player exodus and tons of bad reviews. They have never touched other mmos in depth enough to learn about the mistakes and lessons learned from elsewhere and how to create a middle ground between the old and the new, especially combat wise, in order to attract more players to NW.
Humans being humans, it is what it is.
Changing subject, I just watched this new game trailer below and instantly thought, this is how a NW Japan expansion would look like!
If that list comes to fruition new world might actually rival what ashes of creation is doing. It probably won’t though, so new world will remain what you play while waiting for ashes of creation to be released
