Let’s talk about Call of Duty I mean BOWPR… I mean OPR

To keep the intro short PvP is pretty much a third person shooter. If you think I am wrong and you play PvP please convince me otherwise. Because all I got to say is that the proof is in the pudding.

Solution: Shorten the window for riposte, add a recovery time for an untriggered riposte, and add a cooldown for freedom. Lastly bring back stunlocking. If people are getting one shot by a combo they are more than likely in light armor and that should be their fault. Do you know how hard it is to catch them? Lastly why would you get rid of stunlocking for melee weapons but no the Ice Gauntlet and Void Gauntlet. I am in heavy armor and getting caught in ice shower is certain death.

People are quitting OPR because of this and I am worried these things are just killing the feature again.

If getting caught in ice shower is death, in heavy, you’re doing it wrong.

Stun locking isn’t a thing at all. Ice gauntlet and void gauntlet doesn’t stun, they slow and root.

Slows from IG insanely brain dead to avoid. OFC they’re gonna chuck a heavy at you after an ice shower or storm…just push shift lol. Do you know the last time I got rooted from an IG? I sure don’t…because I’m aware that it requires a heavy, so I time my dodge.

Even if you are rooted, you can still iframe via shift key. Not hard…

Now, stun locking, absolutely should not be a thing…EVER.

Also didn’t know COD had bows and didn’t know it was a 3rd person shooter, pretty sure it’s fps. Also I’m still waiting to get a nuke or chopper on NW for my kill streaks.

Blame how easy it is to use bow due to hitbox. Blame how it’s common for players to stat pad and make zero effort into winning the round.

Wars, barely use dex players. Some companies have started to run more muskets due to mortal empowerment.

Which, lets talk about that. Muskets have only gotten more popular due to mortal empowerment. Cap that at 5 stacks instead of 15, and you’ll see them used less. Make the attunement from 18% damage to 20% damage, with a 3 second cool down (was 15% wifh 2, buffed now to 18% with 1 second CD).

OPR is for sure frustrating for melee users when it’s mostly range users (int users included, not only dex), but it’s more of a ease of use thing for bows. Muskets…as I previously mentioned.

FS is also brain dead to use. HEY LOOK, I PUSHED A BUTTON AND INFINITELY SHOOT FIRE OUTTA MY STICK. Sorry…insanely dumb with how much it’s been buffed. Favorite are the ones that get a big head thinking they’re remotely using some sort of high skill ability (game isn’t really that skill based as it is)

Anywho, back to topic. NW isn’t COD.

Riposte, frontal stun only, and not immune to range damage. No stamina regen when used.

Tone down mortal empowerment.

Tone down bow damage to where you have to be squishy AF to make use out of it.

Do these, problem solved. We can go back to GA/WH unga bunga monkeys mostly being in OPR.

everybody talks about stuff about why they cant catch and kill people but u miss the big reason in front of you…
the reason why defense is so easy compared to offense is iframes in dodges, especially at light armors, its so easy to dodge damage and cc with dodge, everybody started to play light armor even for melee dps, light armor designed for keeping distance while doing most dps but they tackle around us to “dodge/block” dmg/cc and after that they do dps, like why it is so easy to do this? why is everything have huuuuge iframe??? this game took core mechanics from soulsborne series but they can’t see how hard it was to master soulsborne iframes and defend himself from bosses attacks with dodges, but in this game u just click shift and ignore everything no timing required at all…

What weapons do you use? Also you make it sounds so easy. Like how many shifts and iframes do you think heavy have. How many IG users are targeting melee? It is not score efficient for range to target range so melee bruisers are pretty much a punching bag for high scores.

Of course New World isn’t COD… but New World is feeling like a crappy third person shooter regardless. Since making this post I have transitioned into using VG/IG. When I was a “onga boonga” monkey it was hard for me to score above 30. Now I can score top ten with consistent kills being above 7 at least. Now I am playing on a build that is not optimized and it is my first day. None of my gear is even 625 not even close. Some pieces are sub 600. It gets even worse on my bow/rapier build. Now all I am saying as someone who plays both is that it is unfairly advantageous to be ranged with rapier. Something should be done.

Just wait till I level a musket. I can really prove a point with that and Mortal empowerment.

Lastly all this onga bonga monkey crap has got to stop. Vise versa. You know how dumb it is we got tribalism between range and melee. Melee players are not dumb. It takes peek skill for me to play melee and it is actually more brain dead to be range.

I play a lot of PvP in Elden Ring, the difference is you can roll catch people who are carelessly rolling around. Also it takes great skill to be a range player in that game.

Maybe the is what new world needs. Some kind of roll catching. Idk

Without changing any of the weapon balancing , you can fix a lot of problems by having various, rotating opr maps.

The current map highly favours ranged play by providing tons of vantage points. Many ranged players don’t even care about winning opr, they just want to shoot people from a safe distance and be at the top of the leader board. The Current opr map provides them the place to do this. I’m convinced that if you removed the leader board information from the format, many many players would behave differently in opr. It’s my belief that Competitive pride motivates a lot of the ranged players, but I could be wrong.

You could introduce a new map with only 1 vantage point that ranged players can contest for. Or , introduce a new map with lots of tall walls and corridors so that aoe cc is stronger. It’s a much easier way to address the problem.

By having a variety of maps that rotate, players will be engaging in a “rotating metta” that won’t feel as stale or unfair , because each play style has a turn at being strong. Currently, ranged players enjoy opr much more than melee players or healers.

Just my thoughts

I could definitely get behind that.

I dont agree with that whenever i play with my melee med armor party we push and take everywhere we go, no ranged can even dare to enter inside fort points, we just continously push them with tons of fortification and heals and they contiously fall back and since there are literallu almost no melee bruiser to stand in front of us we just win by taking everthing in front of us easily

Yes it is so hard to play solo, especially there is no point of playing except light if you are a solo player but with groups melee med bruiser party wrecks
I would recommend you to find players to play in opr from discords or companies, it makes huge difference for fun wise too

hey @AlastortheBunny ,

You said that you don’t agree with something that I wrote, but I’m not sure exactly which of my statements you disagree with? Could you please clarify? I read your post and I don’t think that I disagree with you at all. I think you actually helped to make my point, that many ranged players don’t care to take points or win games, instead they just aim to top the leader board by doing as much damage as possible.

Happy to hear your thoughts and have a more fleshed out discussion.

I only disagreed that map favors ranged, they can shoot from afar and get their points and become the number 1 while losing game to melee bruisers which took forts

If it is leaderboard points they are chasing there should be point for taking Outpost or fighting on points. For every few seconds a player is on an objective they should be awarded 100 points.
