MMO need personalisation this one doesn’t have much in fact build are one of the only thing you can personalise sadly, not realy BIS on my servor cost anywhere from 200k to 500k mid tier item 50 to 150k why ? what the benefit for the player base to hide the personalisation / gameplay behind a massive PAY wall usualy people want to be rich beacause they want to afford stuff and show off like a fancy car or smth but fudamentaly it doesn’t realy change anything they serv the same function (assuming you respect the speed limitation)
In this game no, if you have a best in slot gear you will most likely obliterate you’r oponent (keep in mind you could very well buy gold with money using third party website) on that fact alone it make the system un fun, btu the part that sadden me the most is creativity how can i try new stuff creat a new niche build if that require me to farm for month . Sccefull game alow player to SHOW off there wealth not PLAY off it.
How many possibility are lost due to ease of acces ? take an exemple i’am a league player in this MOBA there is an ever evolving meta and quit recently something strange happened a champion build was found and played by pro in competition then it take over the world and is now play by a lot of people. (ap corki / ap kai sa) These champion are esealy availiable cheap and what make them strong (the item) wern’t change for a long time (about 2 year) and there is millions of player yet this build that made them strong took a shit toons of time to be A discover B brought to the meta C played in pro.
Now take new world and realise that a good finished build cost about 1.5 million to make (i have no clue how much time it require a assemble that amount of money i have 1400 hours and at best i have gottent what 300k) at that point you should see the issue.
In about 4 days when the patch drops, Focus is no longer going to be useless. The first perk is a reduction in cool down. That is a HUGE perk that everyone will be taking.
I really doubt people are gonna dump 50 points into FOC unless it benefits them somehow. Like VG mages. 50 points into their actual damage scaling and unlocking strong perks or CON is vastly stronger than 5% CDR.
Like for instance, why would you take 300 DEX 150 CON 50 FOC over 300 DEX 200 CON? You’re missing out on 1500 HP and 10% extra phys/elemental armor so your penetrating shot comes off CD 1s earlier?
The system for this existing with the Faction Seals… which only allow you to change to a STAT with CON a a secondary:
This balances it slightly in that it limits the stats you can change to. It is also balanced in the sense that once you use a Seal on a piece of gear, you cannot change the stat again. So it is one change per piece only, cannot be swapped back and forth all the time.
All we need to do is extend the Seals to work with all Gear.
It’s funny how there are so many forgotten systems in this game.
We get a lot of repeat named items (especially on the PvP track) so it would make sense if we could then further customise their attributes with these seals to fit different builds.
Perhaps a new material you can get by combining timeless shards, from aptitude crates or perfect salvage. Either force a new stat on the item or re-roll it at random at the relevant station. It would make the item bound to player.
Edit: or since runestones and half of the benefits of stone cutting are about to be completely irrelevant this could be the perfect replacement. Craft an item that lets you reroll either one perk or stats of a weapon at random requiring the items that are about to be rendered useless at the stonecutter station.
Also don’t forget there’s PvP gear in OPR caches, war caches and not just PvP track.
OPR gear itself is very outdated, it doesn’t roll new PvP perks added with arena patch, it doesn’t roll elemental attunement on weapons, weapon perks on purple weapons etc.
Maybe start with NAMED items first (both PVE/PVP).
For example I can convert Furry from STR to CON (or int or foc), Infamy from DEX to INT
Honestly, I’d completely agree with this, IF, it requires 200 of the level for the crafting of the item, it requires some number of Umbral Shards, some number of Timeless or Raid shards, some number of stat modifiers (of the type wanting to change it to) and probably the same amount of materials to make the highest level of the item in the rarest of materials eg Asmodeum, etc.
This is something that can be easily implemented, but due to the lack of perks and weapons it would have to be expensive and only on dropped gear. I would say that it should cost 15-20k umbral shards per single stat reroll to promote running dungeons and to prevent bis items early on in the game. That removes the requirement to beat the bots at farming and let’s the dungeon gear be just as viable as the crafted gear.
There is already a system for changing Stats. It’s in the Faction store. Just need to expand those tokens and allow them to be applied to other than Faction Gear. Prices are already set.
Then we could focus on getting items with the perks we want and apply the Stat Faction Token (for me Occultist - Int/Con) to the item and VvWallA there’s an item with the perks and the stats.
@TwiliShadow Good point! To be fair … I don’t use it because I craft gear, and the choices as you mentioned are limited, but you’re right if that was expanded to all item stat type choices AND the ability to work on non-faction specific gear … that would be great.
