I really doubt people are gonna dump 50 points into FOC unless it benefits them somehow. Like VG mages. 50 points into their actual damage scaling and unlocking strong perks or CON is vastly stronger than 5% CDR.
Like for instance, why would you take 300 DEX 150 CON 50 FOC over 300 DEX 200 CON? You’re missing out on 1500 HP and 10% extra phys/elemental armor so your penetrating shot comes off CD 1s earlier?
The system for this existing with the Faction Seals… which only allow you to change to a STAT with CON a a secondary:
This balances it slightly in that it limits the stats you can change to. It is also balanced in the sense that once you use a Seal on a piece of gear, you cannot change the stat again. So it is one change per piece only, cannot be swapped back and forth all the time.
All we need to do is extend the Seals to work with all Gear.
It’s funny how there are so many forgotten systems in this game.
We get a lot of repeat named items (especially on the PvP track) so it would make sense if we could then further customise their attributes with these seals to fit different builds.
Perhaps a new material you can get by combining timeless shards, from aptitude crates or perfect salvage. Either force a new stat on the item or re-roll it at random at the relevant station. It would make the item bound to player.
Edit: or since runestones and half of the benefits of stone cutting are about to be completely irrelevant this could be the perfect replacement. Craft an item that lets you reroll either one perk or stats of a weapon at random requiring the items that are about to be rendered useless at the stonecutter station.
Also don’t forget there’s PvP gear in OPR caches, war caches and not just PvP track.
OPR gear itself is very outdated, it doesn’t roll new PvP perks added with arena patch, it doesn’t roll elemental attunement on weapons, weapon perks on purple weapons etc.
Maybe start with NAMED items first (both PVE/PVP).
For example I can convert Furry from STR to CON (or int or foc), Infamy from DEX to INT
Honestly, I’d completely agree with this, IF, it requires 200 of the level for the crafting of the item, it requires some number of Umbral Shards, some number of Timeless or Raid shards, some number of stat modifiers (of the type wanting to change it to) and probably the same amount of materials to make the highest level of the item in the rarest of materials eg Asmodeum, etc.
This is something that can be easily implemented, but due to the lack of perks and weapons it would have to be expensive and only on dropped gear. I would say that it should cost 15-20k umbral shards per single stat reroll to promote running dungeons and to prevent bis items early on in the game. That removes the requirement to beat the bots at farming and let’s the dungeon gear be just as viable as the crafted gear.
There is already a system for changing Stats. It’s in the Faction store. Just need to expand those tokens and allow them to be applied to other than Faction Gear. Prices are already set.
Then we could focus on getting items with the perks we want and apply the Stat Faction Token (for me Occultist - Int/Con) to the item and VvWallA there’s an item with the perks and the stats.
@TwiliShadow Good point! To be fair … I don’t use it because I craft gear, and the choices as you mentioned are limited, but you’re right if that was expanded to all item stat type choices AND the ability to work on non-faction specific gear … that would be great.
It should be with any gear, even more with the manufactured equipment that is currently the one with the most problems. In this way you can land the prices that exist today.
We have timeless shards. I don’t see how you could craft something with the wrong stats when those exist. What we could do with is allowing people to use the other craft materials too with timeless shards so it’s not just focus only for example. Let people craft split stat. In turn we also need to allow people to change PVP track gear with those faction seals. They too should have pure stat options like Sage.
I’m in the league of making crafting cheaper and also flexibility in builds. Guardsman insignias are 120g ea and leather straps are 4g ea, this would balance out these inflated costs. Make the adjusted stat gear BoP so you can yolo timeless shard craft to sell if you wish.
Another scenario is they adjust stat milestones like they’re doing now, perhaps you want less con on your gear, this would allow you to change a vital piece of gear from con to focus with the new refreshing bonus.
