Per the topic, a lot of the problems in the New World economy trace back to an inability to recoup our losses if we abandon a house. It makes the demography of the map extremely rigid; people cannot move houses even if a city becomes mismanaged or punishing in taxes. It also causes people to centralize in the starting towns, as people are likely to buy their first house early on in these areas.
Furthermore, property taxes are being artificially held low at the moment, which is causing inflated company revenues. But once this ends, I foresee a lot of the same problems with companies being unable to afford upkeep on low-pop servers. However, this time around, companies may just keep their taxes dialed up to Extreme, since people have essentially been encouraged to buy expensive houses for the past month, which they can’t just abandon without punishing monetary losses.
