Let's Actually Talk What is Up With Muskets

I want people to be aware of a few things regarding the weapon as many have called for nerfs of the weapon itself when in reality it has been pretty much the same since launch except for the change to reloading and bug fixes. More or less anyways. Either way, most posts complain mainly is with damage and hitscan of the weapon, which really isn’t amazing tbh, I find it easier to hit bow shots at like the mid range compared to muskets due to sort of clunky movements and iframes but regardless, the majority of complaints really originated from experiences in OPR it seems which I guarantee can be highly attributed to battle bread and mortal empowerment from my experience. Battle bread alone gives 15% damage increase AND resistance and the only people I ever see grab it are dex players, obviously others do but I would say majority are dex that buy it by far. You can really tell who has it and who doesn’t. It also does not count towards empower cap as far as I can tell.

The nerf is coming to the PTR I know though it won’t change all that much in terms of reducing damage I don’t think but again seems to be something just being addressed poorly by individuals who really don’t play the role. Also keep in mind muskets, in order to literally do damage, have to 1) headshot and 2) fully invest in damage (300 dex 150 int typically without max gear) to be viable to get kills before someone health pots it all away or get healed by a healer. That and most good muskets have fully invested sets for only damage output with roughly 8.5k con max and little to no armor, mostly socketed in thrust and elemental protection. Best real counter is assassins truthfully, most don’t watch their backs at all and easy pickings truthfully.

I think changing it so only musket powder burn gives us damage increase to basic attacks which if I read it right says if they are taking fire damage, which just run purifying toast really. The whole point is large burst damage and in OPR it is just open space which probably should have more cover to by honest. That and I think it will incentivise muskets to focus eachother less as well as typically we are the furthest apart in opr and the first targets you go for when fighting which if hitting them is pointless then the only other option is the melee ball and healer and mages.

Also love how they call it BowPR but did not change bows at all except nerf the counter to them and change the size of projectiles some. Will be interesting what that does XD

sometime in the middle of the alpha (one of the 2nd to last waves I think) would weigh in some so when it does not effect the overall gameplay and complaints still roll in, this was at least here already ahead of time. Cheers!
