Let's make Spear more enticing for Wars

I’m not ripping on the weapon or anything. I think it’s great. I love using spear/bow. Unfortunately, (and I’ve tried plenty of spear melee builds), it’s just not something that people are gonna really accept much for wars (as a melee, without it being a secondary to bow).

I think it could easily be fixed though so that we can have more fun with a spear in wars.

The main reason is just the fact that GA/WH is just too good as a melee between the all the stun/rend/dmg it can do as AOE.

So why not close that gap? for example:

Swap out cyclone (which does the opposite from what people want in Wars…) with an ability where you stab your spear into the ground and it stuns/staggers/knocks down all enemies in a circular range.

Change the upgrades of Javelin to where when you throw a Javelin and it hits a target, it then sends chain lightning damage to enemies nearby (think Diablo 2 Amazon). Have this be a big aoe DPS ability. At the very least, perhaps allow Javelin to pass through enemies like Penetrating shot? Even that would be very effective in wars.

There are other things that could be done, like higher dmg attribute perks for Dex. But the biggest thing is AOE stun capability. The only way any melee builds besides really GA/WH is gonna get any love for wars by good companies is if they can be used similarly.

Again, I’m not trashing the spear. I’m a spear user. I’m just saying I’d like to see it become a more acceptable melee weapon. And I’m just throwing some ideas out there because It’s annoying to really see (and only be able to use) GA/WH if you want to melee in wars.

Another idea would be to make Javelin ‘explosive’. This could help where its at times hard to hit ppl in PVP with the Javelin. Wherever the Javelin lands, it expodes doing AOE dmg + stun/knock down/stagger.

AOE with stun and stagger seems like a hard combo to balance. I don’t think they belong in the same move, unless its like P.O.D where it’s linear. But in a radius? That could easily become broken. Especially if the cooldown for Javelin is not adjusted to balance out spamming.

Yeah, having the javalin as a AOE explosive…aka Warhammer AOE would be fun for the owner but nerfed for the game.

I didn’t mean have them both. I meant as varying options. Stagger OR stun. My apologies for not being clear. I’m simply asking for it to be on par with WH as far as stun goes.

I mean we’re literally in that situation with ga/wh. So why is that ok but god forbid other melee weapons catch up? That makes no sense lol
