But i dont feel like a tank as all the mechanic behind this is just BLOCKING and 1 stance skill.
You can say - you have passives in sword tree… bla bla bla. They are not doing much.
The moment you dont block = you get 3k shots and even the 200+ const wont save you.
Braking the stamina is not a big deal too for those who dont know how to use heavy attacks.
The problems with the armor types that are not working and making everybody use mostly heavy armor not doing well too.
Even the 30% buff aura works only for members in circle and actually useless against the 10% damage buff.
Now i use only the stance skill from the defence tree and in terms of defence its exactly the same as in full def tree. block and regen stamina… thats all.
Damage ? yep we have the backstab that CD the skills but if we speak about solo target the main DPS is still just slashing the target. After weapon swap you are not a tank anymore and in this case no metter what weapons you use.
The next problem - you moslty cant catch a person in PVP if you dont use leap strike on shield rush that are too easy to avoid As you cant use any dash - you just like a blocking stone :D.
Stun ?? what is this stun that dismiss with any other damage or buff ?
Those who play tank will understand what i mean. Armor types and tank class need a big rebalance in this game.
Update: lets add the TAUNT… agression that works bad as hell and no any use in PVP.
Taunt from sword x2 worst then from hatchet. In PvP its just useless as no any affect.
Agree. Playin tank is noting, but holding block. Everyone can do that, light/med/heavy gear, doesnt matter.
I hope they will somehow adjust tank role in game. Maybe with 2h Sword.
i suppose to tank damage when you out of blocking and the ability to make at least some dps in this moment. You cant run while blocking too… so when you dont block - you dead.
Well if you pop a defiant stance you take 30% less damage on top of having heavy armor you can start dealing out damage. Healing pool under you with fortify buff and you can be a dps tank.
well i mean, there is no point in wearing lighter than heavy armor, since the shield is already so heavy that you end up at heavy equip load anyways.
i mean, you could try and tank with a rapier, but with medium armor i feel like you’d need to dodge exceptionally, and some bosses just don’t seem to be dodgeable for an extended perioid.
and if you mess up, you might just drop dead instantly
i mean, no…i am not playing a tank myself. but there is things that will straight up kill me in one hit. with light armor that is.
it’s not like the tanks are not tanky enough, maybe the damage is just too high? or maybe there should be skills that let you block while attacking dunno.
so a friend of mine (not playing anymore), also wasn’t happy with the way tanking works in new world. you can’t no anything but block when damage is incoming. kinda boring imo, that’s where the dodge tanking came into my mind, but it would be too unreliable atm i think
There are a few things they could do to make tanking more dynamic.
Making Tower shield interrupt your current ability when you block. So you can try to do a few more things between attack patterns but instantly block again if needed.
There is also a ton of phalanx type attacks with a sword that can be made while behind a Tower shield, those types of things could be incorporated into the game.
Also the final ability on the tank side needs major distance increase. 2m is TINY! That doesn’t even reach all of the way through most bosses to the melee dps behind them. I don’t even use it anymore because it never reaches anyone unless its trash mobs
Im neither understanding exactly what u are asking for, nor if u have an understanding of how a real Tank should build, but some quick points:
If ure going 2 skills + passioves into the dmg tree on sword and only play 200 constitution youre not a real Tank imo so it makes sense that you have to block to survive! If u do go into fully passive traits, 8 T5 Onyx Gems and 350+ Constitution with the max HP increase perk on Amulett then ill guarantee you that you can survive a lot without permablocking and also can use your hatchet berserker window for DPS both in pve and pvp
And do total 0 dps ?
There is no any sense to go 300+ const. like 0. I played 300+ con from start.
All you get is about more 2-3k HP with useless perks and loose all damage.
Now im 200 con + 50dex and 200+ str. full Onyx\Diamond with only stance and few passives from def tree.
Well in that case good luck, because all youre asking for is to make Tank stupidly OP being unkillable yet kill anyone else in pvp easily Stop dreaming
Tanks used to be better in ALPHA, and they nerfed 'em on down. As everyone then had a heavy armor build. The Devs don’t really know what they want or what they are doing.
