I started playing New World because I thought it was a sandbox player driven economy game and at the start it seemed like it was. I would sell high lv amo that I crafted in higher lv zones, potions where cities didn’t have goods alchemy benches and it was fun. AGS hated this game play and linked the TPs and now if you wanna try to play the game as a merchant well you cant. To bad for you. After getting to lv 60 and learning what the HWM system is and how it works I quickly realized that the New Worlds economy was doomed to fail due to an unsustainable supply and demand chain. With item drops being linked the the player rather than the mobs it is basically impossible to have a healthy distribution of items ie there will be oversaturation of high lv gear. AGS also saw this issue and instead of trying rework the WMS to try to promote a healthy enjoyable player driven economy they instead doubled down on the HWM system by making it so items are scaled to your water mark if you buy them through the TP. Every update AGS has made to this game has harmed the “player driven economy” and thats not even mentioning the gold dups and item dups that pelage this game. The HWM system needs to be reworked/removed from this game. It is the worst end game system I have ever seen in a game. It creates an unfun core gameplay loop. makes other aspects of the game a waste of time and is not rewarding in the slightest to participate with. The system feels like something that some non gamer in the board room forced the studio to implement because the games is being criticized for lack of end game. Trash time sink systems are not the way! Time gated once a day crafting systems are not the way! This is not some phone app developed in a basement this is a triple A title produced by the wealthiest company in the world. There is no excuse for this uninspired design.
