Leveling crafting is unrewarding - ideas

I recall devs saying that they didn’t want people spamming low level recipes to level crafting.

I don’t understand why it’s better to spam high level ones either - as they are equally useless. The very small amount of useful crafts don’t yield hardly any experience (honing stones, for instance)

I just leveled weaponsmithing for completionist sake and it was still a bunch of craft cheapest stuff => salvage.

Ideas - add more useful things outside of armor for professions to craft such as

  • craft mods (not just the attribute ones either)
  • upgradeable armor where the crafting path is like refining where you need an iron piece, to upgrade to starmetal…could introduce unique sets this way? Maybe something for players leveling to progress as they level so they have a nice set for 60?
  • housing item pieces, that furnishing uses to craft things
  • mobile bank/forge with multiple upgradeable tiers, used once a day
  • cosmetics or adornments
  • special ammo that adds poison, fire, rend …

Etc

I think this is just part of the grind if you want to max a skill. Unfortunately it is expensive/time consuming, but it should be or everybody would max everything and no skills would hold value.

It still can be time consuming and expensive, but also be gratifying.

PS: I have all profs maxed so this has zero benefit to me. I’m just watching new player behaviors and experiences and noticing gaps.

Right now, unless you are a fresh start player or leveled in the very start of game, you won’t get the rewarding but still painful grind.

I don’t believe in gatekeeping - those who will level these profs will anyway, and those who don’t probably won’t. That is more of a personality thing.
