Life Staff after patch

No. It states. “Light attacks now heal TARGET for 20% weapon damage when passing through an ally”. Comprehension doesn’t really come in to it. manners maybe? but compregension doesn’t.

With all of the bugs and exploits in this game, the developers have chosen to nerf the solo’ability and splash group healing of life staff? Really? I cannot decide if this blunt ham-handed approach to “balance” is a mistake or if someone actually thought this was a good time to make this change? Read the room people. Fix the important stuff before bludgeoning your players with unnecessary nerfs.

It’s not balance, it’s a bug fix. The previous behavior was never intended.

And it is not even the main source of healing. It is very, very, very useful sustain tool with low healing output, and they just decided - yeah that is the problem.

Easier fix would have been if they just set the condition to the Blissful Touch to activate only if it hits an enemy target, that would completely stop the ground spamming and would actually help skillful healers with their output for skill shots.

Based solely on your opinion. You have NO IDEA what was intended. It was developed that way, got through alpha beta and launch like that, and was only changed to improve performance of servers in the wars. IT was NOT a bug. It was just behaviour that many non LS players did not like.

The skill worked like this since basically 1st beta. It took them 2 years to fix so called “bug”?

Nope. Healers can still sit in their circles and Heavy Armor and wack 3+ people. THAT Passive that they Nerf wasn’t very useful in this manner. Although I heard it was abused in node wars with the animation cancel bug that also worked on fire staff.

All they did was Wreck Healer in PvE. I hardly do PvP, and this feels really bad in Pve. It was inta-quit for me. I love healing, but the class is TOO NERFED now. My whole guild just quit after me. Even friends in other servers are quitting. All cuz of this nerf and the client exploits.

Wrecking this game with Thor’s hammer in more fitting. It’s like they hate the playerbase at this point. It’s starting to feel good to quit this game lol

For me to be having more enjoyment in the forum debating a change, rather than playing the game itself is testament to teh lunacy of the current design choices.

Until I see a developer tag beside your name, I will accept this as your opinion, but certainly not fact. Life staff worked this way throughout late alpha and both open and closed beta. Never once did I see it tagged a “bug.” Again, I appreciate your opinion, but stop claiming facts when you are literally guessing.

All they needed to do to “fix” this issue in pvp is make it only heal if it hits an enemy target. This would negate the ground spam and would still retain its usefulness for melee healing sustain in pve.

But no, they decided to go all draconian and not fun direction.

Yeah, encourages even more healers to use heavy armor, since almost all healing habilities demands the healer to be still, and being still in light amor = death.

Didn’t there used to be a perk, back in testing, that said something like light attacks now heal in a small area around impact? Something like that. Was one that chained after the one that added healing to light attack in the first place, I believe. I just assumed they rolled that into it and just didn’t update tooltip…

Two years? Lol the Life Staff got a complete rework in March and these passives weren’t even introduced until then.

Ugh… Here we go. Tons of people complain about how op healers are in this game. AGS adjusts light attack heals and a few minor tweaks and now every healer is coming out to say how they are leaving or changing classes and how dare AGS tweak healing!! Seriously? I played with lifestaff before and after the change and it’s fine. Quit making everything out to be the end of the world. So sick of the doom and gloomers on these forums. Maybe I just need to quit coming here because all I hear is complaint after complaint and so far I have loved my gaming experience on New World. Does it have issues? Absolutely, but no more or less than any other game I played that has only been out for a month.

Then Im not sure how good you are. Sounds like your build might be lacking

the change isnt fine… you cant cure debuffs on your self anymore… and dont say splash of light because that ability is awful lol

No it’s not a guess, it’s very clear behavior based on what was written but you can also read the public patch notes from March -

  • Blissful Touch: Light attack now heals for 20% weapon damage when hitting an ally.

Or don’t take my word for it, take another alpha tester’s word for it (besides me and you) -

Or they could’ve increased Heavy Armor Penalty so that it cuts off 20% max healing just for being on Heavy. Heck, I would’ve been HAPPY with a 90% max healing decrease on heavy. I would prefer THAT to this nerf.

The Healers on Heavy ARE the sole problem. A healer in Light armor dies in 2 hits in pvp. Any healer that actually done pvp on light knows this. You can only tank people in heavy.

Having no debuff cleanse is not fun but that’s always how it’s been intended and honestly I haven’t had issue with it. I’ve been playing with that since alpha. What is more sad is when they nerfed Splash of Light whenever that was months ago. That was actually a decent AoE heal + full cleanse at one point.
