Lifestaff Recovery Buff not functioning properly

  • What is your character name in New World: Jon Wartether
  • What server/world did you experience your issue on: US East Kaluwahatian
  • Describe the issue you are experiencing: Lifestaff’s Recovery buff claims to heal 7.5% weapon damage per second. I have 414 weapon damage, 10% heal from Protector’s Strength, 20% heal from 150 Focus passive, 20% heal from light equip load. Recovery is granting 15 health per second.
  • Is this a bug or an exploit: Bug, being exploited by my enemies and PvE monsters T_T
  • (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: Negatively, the Recovery buff is hard-coded for 15 HP heal.
  • (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue: No.
  • (if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced: video link on the Reddit post
  • What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced: Use the Lifestaff Orb of Protection with the Recovery buff.

User Sappow in the linked Reddit thread writes:

"The self one from the next talent overwrites the extended other one. Which is what you’re seeing.

When you orb someone ELSE it heals for the correct amount. When you orb yourself, it applies the effect to you, and then the third talent says “hey, orb healed someone!” and then puts a base power, base duration version of the effect on you. If you cast it on your feet at full health, the proper power, extended duration version of Recovery is applied to you and then because orb doesn’t heal people at full health, it isn’t overwritten.

For orb to heal yourself effectively, you actually want to drop the last two talents, which is obnoxious if you want to use it on any other people. What actually needs to be fixed is the self version of recovery and fortify 1 not counting as being “cast” by you, so they’re unaffected by your stats or things like the talent that extends buff durations 20%."

Another bug has been reported by user Sifa_Craft. I have verified both bugs found by Sappow and Sifa_Craft.

“Also “Bend Light” (the dodge buff), doesn’t seem to affect “Blissful Touch” (light attacks heal). However “Intensify” (Heavy attacks stack to 3 for +10% each), does.”
