Light armor dodge roll speed bonus needs to go

Fair enough. Then refrain from complaining about not getting to dex if your build is not designed and aimed to chase them as prio. Problem solved.

It is also worth mentioning that this build is off-meta.

Anyone knows that movement speed in PVP games is very dominant and much more important than any other stat.

That is why in mmorpg or Mova that have their PVP established, movement speed is usually tied to a large CD or to conditions that prevent them from abusing it.

As long as there is this speed difference between players in the NW, PVP will never improve, and open world PVP will be impossible to revive.

Okay, there’s no point arguing over this. You’re basically claiming that because I’m not playing the FOTM meta build, I should not complain about stuff that defines the current meta.

Thank you, it was a nice discussion.

You specifically said what is the aim of your build and then you complain about the stuff outside of it’s scope xD it’s not just about the meta. You are arguing with yourself at this point.

I just mentioned the meta part as a side note.

I would like to see more people acknowledging this. After you dodge in medium/heavy your recovery is slower than light armor. Light doesn’t have this problem. That makes light dodge far superior on top of having a longer dodge distance.

When have I claimed my aim is to chase light armor players? These are the things I claimed:

My build works for that purpose. This whole post was not just PVP based. It’s about the whole game. I’m more frustrated about the part that the light armor movement speed also affect PVE. At least currently if you want to be at the top you even need to run light armor as a tank because it’s so much faster to group up enemies and a lot easier to stay ahead of the group. Not everything is just about PVP.

Yeah nerf light armor even more. You know just because you can’t play with it or against it - that doesnt mean its bad. I love the light armor because it speed things up! Otherwise the game feels slugish and slow. And no i dont play pvp because i dont care about this bow/firstaff sweatfets.

On the other hand they could make the combat more fluid for melee in general. The current animation locking on melee is not affected as much when playing in light because you benefit more from dodge animation cancelling because light armor dodges are so fluid.

I know people who do not want to move away from the fluidity of light armor into medium armor. But just removing the speed boost will not change anything regarding the fluidity.

There are two directions for the game. The stagger on every hit very methodical way of playing which this game was back in the alphas or free flowing combat. Currently the game is somewhere in the middle where mechanics some mechanics just don’t make any sense. Currently light has the best free flowing combat and in addition to that they get crazy benefits just like the speed boost of light dodge rolls.

Precisely, while some players have movement acceleration… the rest are slow in comparison, and this entails a very big problem in PVP.

For this reason, many people do not want to lose the advantage they have over the rest the players.

All players must be able to move at the same speed, it’s just equity.

Spin it however you want to spin it. This whole thread is a mediocre players copium dedicated to dex issues being projected onto light armor as a whole and people being reluctant to proper build craft, accepting some give and take as well as painting light armor being without flaws. Then when you call people out (for instance you) turns out they use some non-meta setup but feel somehow compelled to discuss balance and make strawman arguments.

Well I was talking purely from PvP perspective. Light armor being dominant in PvE is not just the equipload issue. There are other (and more important) factors as well, but w/e I bow out from this conversation. Enjoy your day.

Yes and no. I don’t see any threads with people complaining about Dex players in Medium/Heavy armor.

There are also very few medium/heavy builds that can catch light armor (especially dex), let alone stick to them.

What you see is light armor players complaining about heavy/medium “abusing” cc to stop light armor from kitting them.

Most light armor players are unknowingly complaining about melee weapons catching them and killing them in 3 hits. They forget to mention those builds use light armor.

So in a way, light armor is the culprit, because damage mitigation through mobility is superior to standard damage reduction.

Most light armor players say it’s fun, as long as they don’t fight anyone else using it, because we don’t like to fight on equal ground these days

Light Armor itself does not have any haste bonuses at all. And the roll has to be faster by design, if it wasn‘t you would literally never be able to disengage. And in that case why would anybody still run Light at all.

Light armor has been gutted so many times because of Medium and Heavy armor players complaining they can‘t catch Light players while not even realizing they actually complain about weapons like Bow and Rapier providing tons of free mobility.

If you prefer to play Medium and Heavy, that‘s fine. But you guys really need to stop crying that your build can not be a Jack of all Trades being Tanky, dealing really good damage and being able to catch everybody. That‘s just not how this works or should work, there always needs to be some kind of trade-off.

Exactly
The movement speed acceleration is too dominant, and has a huge advantage over the other stats.
This is obvious to anyone.

It does not have haste, but the movement during a light armor dodge roll animation moves the player forward faster than just running without doing any dodge rolling.

You can test this by choosing two points to run between a friend of yours. You race between locations, one player just runs and the other player uses light armor dodge roll every time they have excess stamina (make sure not to run out of stamina). The light armor dodge roller get’s ahead very quickly.

And still to this date light armor is the most used equipment loadout in the game in all forms of content. Let’s see if that changes next patch.

And that‘s perfectly fine.

Wars: Medium & Heavy
OPR: Light & Medium
Arena: Medium & Heavy

PvE: Light & Heavy (not even a point because roll distance is not the reason why people play light in PvE)

Seems pretty balanced to me. Excluding Healers obviously as they have no choice.

Replying at the pace you’re editing your original post.

The issue here is that at this point heavy and medium have no identity. If you think about PVE for example, there’s zero reason to run anything heavier than light armor. The DPS that people want next patch will still play in light armor. I have mutation speedrunning friends who have been experimenting on the PTR and it’s still doable and optimal to run light armor even as a tank based on their experimentation.

That’s because the devs created a classless game but gave us Attribute bonuses and Weapon passives which benefit one build but not the other. And armor loadouts makes this even more obvious. Because everything works better in light armor, especially in PVP

The 150 Dex will never benefit heavy armor, because dodging in heavy armor is underwhelming. So the devs gives you the freedom to play as a heavy armor bow build, but forces you to play the meta if you want to have fun or be competitive.

It’s still a mystery to me why people are against some sort of class system when the game is already build with this idea in mind. People like to support the false idea of freedom for some reason

What are you talking about? They are literally significantly more tanky than light. The Medium dodge costs a whole 10 Stamina less than the Light roll for whatever reason while having the same amount of iFrames.

Next Patch they‘re even going to have free inherent freedom, 10% & 20% respectively. And all of that while barely losing much damage on Light players. Their movement is less impaired when getting hit aswell. You really need to stop.
