light armor doesn’t feel OP now. 60% of players or so still run light so it cant be that bad.
just because there isn’t another good option doesn’t mean its in a good place.
idk medium is alright, I still run light I think the dodges could be better/smoother but tbh I could do some crazy BS in light. Now I can still do crazy BS I just get punished for being too cocky now.
Imo light needed the change because it was too easy to escape and keep distance. If you are good in light you should still do well.

Or maybe they just run it because it’s the most fun equip load by a mile. It’s like a lot of people still running Mage even though Firestaff is the worst weapon in the game.
I ran bow back when it was a meme weapon people will play whatever, light is a lot of fun imo, and it is rough to use in qc now. I think when the translation is cut shorth the animation needs to be fluid and more responsive. I just don’t like how easy it was to roll away from fighting like sonic the hedgehog at the same time I loved doing that.
idk i can still use light armor fine, I just had to make a choice now if i fight or try to run and commit to one or the other.
Just because I can stand back and get kills doesn’t mean light armor doesn’t have big issues. I play GS on fresh start and killing light users is pretty much a joke. As stated in the original post, giving light armor a triple nerf in one swing was a bad idea, it went too overboard. I wouldn’t mind the dodge distance as much if they reduced the movement delay after being hit by melee and after casting / using a light or heavy attack.
Walk animation on every attack + being snared when hit is so overboard its ridiculous. You can barely gain distance when someone closes in then you get self snared when you try to fight back, forcing you to blow stamina with a dodge cancel so you can maintain distance.
And you successfully kited multiple players in light armor right in front of me and ended an OPR with sub 5 deaths, 10+ kills meanwhile being 2v5 most of the match.
It doesn’t feel like trash and watching you play in light armor and effectively kite multiple players on numerous occasions makes me wonder why you even made this thread.
It’s just not OP anymore and that’s that.
Anecdotal evidence does not really make for great feedback on something that is objectively not in a great spot from a mechanics standpoint though. It doesn’t automatically mean it’s doing fine just because good players can make it work half of the time, especially not when the scoreboards in gamemodes like OPR are not representative of the actual performance of a build whatsoever.
There are definitely nuances to the issue, and I’m sure most people that have a decent amount of experience with the game don’t want light armor to just be straight up broken, but rather just feel good to play (which it definitely doesn’t anymore after the Brimstone patch). Flat out saying that it was OP before and now it’s not anymore is not equivalent to saying that it’s in a great spot now.
Currently you not only get hit with a forced long walking animation after getting hit, but also with a major reduction in your dodge distance in addition to the forced walking animation when performing ranged basic attacks.
This combined with the nerf to shirking energy, the large amount of strong gap closing abilities on Melee weapons and the oppressive tracking on a lot of the Melee weapons (especially Greatsword) put Melee in a super strong position where they always eventually catch up with you if you decide to fight. It’s just too punishing to engage in fights as a Light player in the current state of the game.
Well, I’ve played light melee just fine and there’s light armor Great Sword kill squads racking up 25+ kills in wars + Xyshina over here having a 4.0 KD in light armor.
It’s in a good spot.

Light Armor spear and Dex in general is fine and so are schitzo builds.

Like I honestly am not sure what to add to that. I consistently go 20+ kills and less than 3-4 deaths in OPR with Light FS/IG and the “class” is still terrible. Anecdotal evidence, especially when referencing scoreboards and k/d-ratios, is absolutely pointless when it comes to pointing out flawed mechanics.

There are exceptions but most of the time you’ll see medium when they are squads or when they have a pocket healer and heavies that try to play the flag game. Otherwise it’s all light all the way and honestly that’s freaking non sense.
Armor type is now dictated as solo: light, pocket healer or squad: medium or even light (but yeaaahhh light is bad), heavies… Well… I guess they sometimes are useful, idk I never see them.
First of all, weapons should not have the same skills according to armor type, this would allow a more precise balance. There is no way AGS can try to balance a weapon from one side and not making it op/useless on the other.
Secondly, honestly the dodge diff is just garbage, look at the numerous thread made because they really really want to stick to this although it’s being discussed since the early stages of the game.
Thirdly, gems and perks are also trash, never saw a so granular thing as “reduce thrust/slash/whatever damages” what the hell is this? It adds complexity for the sake of it without adding deep mechanics… It’s surface wide but 0 inches deep. Never saw a game with that much defensive perks/extras that finally end up being that useless… Even the elemental gems are “x porcentage of those damages are converted to x elemental but according to the y best stats”… Seriously? Wanna try to act like it’s deep gameplay or…?
And finally to me, skills are also a joke, DAMAGEEEEESSSSS is all that count and the TTK is shit. Stop with the freaking damages, decrease everything, same as heals, increase mana/endurance consumption and maybe people will eventually think on how they gonna play and try to express some thoughts when typing in the keyboard… Never saw a dot putting pressure on anybody nor as stun on a heal being useful. All we do is “smash that guy”… What a gameplay!
I was telling my friends that NW was getting better and had faith on it, but seriously I just lost it after too many oprs… I don’t enjoy the combat at all as there is absolutely no combat… And I’m mostly a pvper! PvE is just utterly boring after a while. They just made everything the other way around. Overcomplexifies perks, gems and armor while having oversimplified combat mechanics… If the combat mechanics were somehow good, we would not have all those discussions about muskets or bows because they would be somehow useful ON the flag aswell… In nearly all the MMOs I know, bows, guns or things like that have a freaking utility outside open wide areas… Here… How do you want ranged people to play on the flag with the skills they have?? The design is just wrong… Nobody in their team had freaking MMOs experience, here is the result.

Light armor is so strong there is ZERO reason to play anything else.
Even as a Bruiser if you are not in light you are doing it wrong.
The problem is most people dont have 700k gold to buy a single piece of this build.
