Light Armor Feels like TRASH now...change my mind

Um fs/ig are both range if you light attack you shoot don’t you? Literally what do you even mean? Now if you want to get weird grab a fs/gs build slot those fire gems and sword go brrrrrrr otherwise fs/ig literally shoot ‘mana’ in the form of elemental damage you need to be one of the many people who left this game please if your this incompetent.

See you just don‘t seem to understand that stats, especially in gamemodes like OPR, don‘t necessarily corelate to the overall performance of the build. You look at a good statline and instantly draw the conclusion that the build is the reason why those stats are good.

In reality, I mostly need to stand close to or behind my team to keep my deaths low. I can easily statpad, get healed by other players and other players can peel for me. If I get focused though, that‘s it for me 99% of the time. Is my build great at surviving or am I maybe just extra careful to not die because my build is bad at surviving? Food for thought.


And it‘s not about ego. I just wanted to highlight the obvious flaw in many people‘s logic to use anecdotal evidence a la „I know this guy on my server and he is super good with build xyz, so it can‘t be that bad“ to prove it‘s viability as if it‘s an objective fact. I don‘t know how good any of you are at the game, but maybe you are an absolute bot and this crazy good guy that you‘re referencing is a mediocre player at best. That‘s the forum in a nutshell when it comes to balance discussions.

And this is why the actual conversation should be about the mechanical implications of those changes, which have been broken down countless times in detail for everyone to digest. It just seems that bias and general anti-behavior on the forums stand in the way of looking at the changes for what they are: A heavyhanded nerf that massively lowered the skill ceiling of the game and caused a ton of collateral damage to non-problematic builds.

There is no match making in the game, so you cannot use OPR score boards as a metric about pvp balance.

They somehow need to find the best players to fight each other and balance around that.

Overnerf as always. Light armor issue was mostly tied to dex rapier rather than anything else really. They should bring back either the dodge distance or shirking energy.

I personally agree they went too far all at once. There was no gradual testing.

They should have picked 1 thing first to try then evaluate.

They buffed heavy and medium with being slowed for less time than light. Try just that first. Then maybe try a 10% distance reduction and if still not enough then progress on to 20%

Shirking energy nerf was pretty crazy too. Gutted by more than 50% and it hurts mages the most as they don’t have any cheaper dodge perks like dex do. Shirking should be strong IMO, it doesnt work if you just spam roll, you have to actually shirk an attack not just be rolling away in the field.

What do we expect though when we have heavy unga bunga devs that think they should be able to catch light rapiers lol

This should’ve been the only change in that patch before carefully evaluating if further adjustments are needed. And even then they should’ve tried to find other ways to bring the equip loads more in line with each other than reducing the dodge distance on Light.

Overall they need to make more subtle and frequent adjustments instead of bundling a bunch of different nerfs up for a single patch. It’s never going to lead to a healthier game when the Meta shifts in extreme ways all the time.

They just need to completely remove the pause you receive when hit and it would instantly make pve and pvp a lot better and playable. Right now with the pause it’s all just

Light armor might feel like trash right now BUT IT IS STILL BETTER THAN MEDIUM AND HEAVY.

Even for melee bruisers.

If you do not play light armor you are playing wrong.

No reason to use medium or heavy.

Only trash players are bad with light armor

except you know…for the only competitive game mode, war.

Everyone still in light change my mind.

No one learned the scientific method in HS at Ags I guess. They could just do weekly or biweekly updates and get feedback from reliable players. But one tweek at a time.

Light is fine, medium is op as f, that’s the problem.

because its the only fun one to play. doesnt mean its better lol. people like faster paced games. I would fall asleep playing med heavy bot build

Fighting vs med/heavy is just pure annoying. Wow, face tank or dodge spam in med so their bad play is fine. Add in the freedom stacking, which was pure stupidity putting it in the game in the first place, and there are people face tanking shockwaves and blocking any follow-up.

AGS making the game for the lowest common denominator instead of making a fun game.

Good time to bump this thread possibly one last time.

Because apparently nerfing Shirking Energy, nerfing the dodge distance on being hit and having to walk for like 2s after being hit from every single melee hit still wasn’t enough (for Dave and his team to kill Light Armor players in their heavy gear).

Instead of walking these super heavy-handed changes back at least slightly to find a nice middle ground, which would’ve been the only correct move, they’re actually quadrupling down on their bad approach with the next set of nerfs while obviously not playing their own game whatsoever.

They’re constantly claiming that they’re reading the forums, but I guess they’re reading different forums than us, because I’m on here daily and haven’t seen a single thread complaining about Light Armor being too strong in months while there were a ton of threads talking about the Light Armor nerfs being too punishing and not adressing the core issues since since the Brimstone update.

Honestly I’ve never seen devs being that disconnected from their own game and that disconnected from their community. Actually speechless.

This has been in the game since launch. It was 1.75seconds for everyone. So light armor actually got a buff and this was reduced to 1.5s after a back hit. The other armors just got more of a buff.

Wasn’t a buff. Before it was a 1.75 RP walk but dodge wasn’t effected so you could double dodge out of range.

Now with the free 1.5s melee slow that reduces dodge, even 3 dodges can’t escape sns/gs/spear.
