Hello everyone,
lets discuss the Light Armor and why its totally useless to play it. i’ll put some advantages/disadvantage inside here.
Advantages
Movement is super Fast and looks stylish
Disadvantages
Squishy (a disadvantage you take, for playing Light armor, so thats ofc okey)
Your not dealing much more Damage than a Medium Armor (which makes absolutly no Sense, A Light player with Rapier/Spear deals less Damage than a VG (VG is a topic for it self, [My Opinion Voidblade is way to much and too OP with its Autoattacks]) in Medium armor)
Your Dodging Animation is longer than the actuall Dodging Time, which makes the Dodge Distance near to useless (which makes no sense)
Why the hell can i dodge 3 Times (300 Dex) with 100 Stamina and a Medium can dodge 4 Times (300 Dex) and a Heavy 2 Times (You just dont play Dex on a Heavy… If you do its 3 Times aswell. [My Opinion: Shouldnt it be 4, 3, 2 or 3, 3, 2 ?])
Soo to be Honest Theres only Disadvantages if youre not a Musket staying 100m away from the fight in his Shooters Stance…
What are the Reasons for that i dont get it… If i missed something tell me…

Because id like to be Mobile and do a good amount of Damage, atleast in comparison to Medium Armor. Thats just not given, my question is who thought about that kind of Stuff…

There is a Reason for playing Light, which doesnt exist in New World for now. Its just not given… Youve got only Disadvantages playing it, but id love to play it.
I saw it, but I didn’t get it, because of the programming of it, the advantages were in my Head just from thinking, I’m not into watching some youtbers showing me their builds
Even though bunnyhopping wannabe Legolas players give you the impression sometimes, light armor is pretty underwhelming, especially compared to medium armor, which not only has more total iFrames through the reduced stamina cost of dodges, but also almost the same damage as light (roughly 4% less) and double the resistances.
Light armor on the other hand feels paperthin and doesn’t really compensate you much for chosing to be that squishy. When 90% of all players run medium and only a few select builds can afford to run light, there is definitely an issue. Armor weight classes surely need a rework at some point in the future.
I agree. Implementation of light armor is so poor. I hate the fact that the game forces you to play medium or heavy, or don’t use any builds at all. Why do you even have them then? Let’s all grab our life staff, WH or GA and call it a day. Why bother with any other weapon or armor build when the effort you have to put in is ridiculously higher than with “meta” builds.
Armor used to be different
Light had more elemental defense and Heavy had more physical defense.
But they changed it to system there is now… which in my opinion was the wrong move.
Edit: Medium gear was balanced depending on which set, one had slightly more elemental and the other had slightly more physical. These were the gears at the outfitting station.
That’s a fair answer! I’m using medium with an Int build right now (VG/IG), and I’m happy with it, but I can definitely see and understand what you mean.
Light armor is strong right now, as is medium. It’s heavy armor that is at a distinct disadvantage outside of duels where you are forced to fight (no option to disengage) and war.
But Light armor deals more damage than Medium, and it has improved mobility. The roll is longer than the hop, and you can turn mid-roll. The fact that you can dodge one more time in a row is not a huge factor because nobody who knows what they are doing is going to chain dodge that much. And most Heavy builds can dodge the same number of times as Medium with the Hearty perk.
Youre doing 4%~ more dmg than a Medium Armor.
A Medium armor can dodge 4 times before he gets to 0 Stam, a Light Armor can dodge 3 times before it gets to 0 stam
The dodgeRoll would be strong if you were further away than the Mid armor dodge, but you arent, both dodge distances, before you are on 0 Stam, are exact the Same.
Heavy just isnt build for duels, but is strong in Zerg vs Zerg / War.
