Light/Medium armor change

What is everyone’s thoughts on the slow that’s is now applied to light/medium armor weights?

IMO
PvE: The slow is extremely annoying to deal with and has no purpose whatsoever.

PvP: I understand why this is needed in PvP, but I do find it (at the moment) devastating to the light class and makes it feel unplayable currently.

I’m curious to everyone’s thoughts and experiences so far. I’ve played through the MSQ and attempted the dungeon, and I’ve come to a general feeling that this is too big of a nerf all around.
What’s everyone’s thoughts?

this balance was necessary and actually it is still too weak. Glass cannons were untouchable. Find the change good.

I’m a pretty decent pvper, and I have found both medium and heavy to never perform anywhere near the level that light could do. I could never win a 1v3 with anything other than light, so I think these changes are fantastic. Raises the skill ceiling for playing light. So far it has felt more like a buff to me, because ranged players can’t get away now, and I usually just dodge everything anyways :sweat_smile: That’s my personal opinion!

The slow was already there before the patch. When you were hit by a mob, you didnt start running right away.

I can agree with the PvP healers could be so slippery. I really just hate it in pve lol just a pain

Yes, the slow was present prior to Brimstone, but with this expansion the duration of the slow was DECREASED for each armor class, with Light Armor getting the least amount of reduction. This essentially creates a disadvantage for LA users, which makes sense in PvP and is Ok, but makes no sense in PvE where the duration should be uniform.

And to anyone who thinks LA deserves this nerf, keep in mind that AGS took other steps against LA, including a 20% reduction in the iFrame duration during a LA dodge, AND an overall slowdown that results in dodge rolling being no faster than running. LA is already taking hits, we don’t need the enhanced slow as well in PvE.

The duration shouldnt be uniform as the dodge isn’t uniform. Tradeoffs. Light armor finally has some (though not many negatives).

When did the i-frame reduction go into place for light armor?

It wasn’t slow. It was automatic sprint delay. There is an option in settings. If you bind a key to walk toggle on/off you can see the difference between normal jogging and sprint. When you are not in combat, game automatically puts you in a sprint mode which was holding shift back then. When some mob hits you, you are entering jog mode and sprint becomes passive. There is like 1.5sec delay or sth like that to switch into sprint mode iirc.

The recover time was decreased the slow is new. The slow applied from getting hit is what I’m mostly talking about.

Right, we’re on the same page. I’m talking about the slow after taking a melee hit.

The changes would be fine, but the changes in conjunction with the S&S allows you to perm-slow people now and they cannot get away. They’re going to have to nerf the slow on S&S.

Was hoping to play heavy for the patch but it still underperforms compared to the other two. Heavy still feels just as squishy as light, but without the damage.

As a Paladin, it doesn’t bother me… if I really want to get away, I have leaping strike. If anything, I’m still tough to kill, but sucks and time to git gud for everyone struggling who was used to crutching on how broken light was as opposed to having skillz.

Light has been so overpowered the change was needed. Personally I think more of an adjustment may be required for equilibrium.

Still too weak??? Another GA/WH main that has not changed weapons since day 1. Are you even aware of meta right now? Glass canons are literally smashed by assasins every war dude.

Not sure what game you are playing…and I have never been GA/WH

Im playing the actual meta, glasscanons get destroyed on wars. The only “glasscanons” viable are muskets. Try playing a 50 cons bow, sns/hatchet or similar. You Will die 10-20 times oneshoted by literally anyone

Well a couple things. Yes, nice that you specified Wars instead of a general PvP comment but still not that accurate. And secondly, you don’t think GA/WH, sns/hatchet, spear/etc, all die plenty of times?

Light has been so spoiled that the perception or, better yet, entitlement is that they should not die. That is just wrong and possibly even more changes should be made.

My queue is almost up so I must depart but I will check in tomorrow.

It was one of the most important balance measures for over half a year.

Now as a heavy offtank I could win some 1 v 1 in the arena with the light wannabe pro gamer.
A wonderful feeling when they can no longer reset the fight with constant rolling away.

Heavy is back in the game, I do not like light gear and now the balance is finally there

Wars are the main PvP evento and meta goes around It yeah. Of courde your objetive as light is to not die. You sacrifice your defensiva capabilitys to be mobile and deadly, so the hard thing to do is survive the sns/hatchet Guy Who uses 1 autoaimed gapcloser that drops 1/3 of your hp and applys you a slow that destroys your ubique defense method, mobility. Now you cant even complain about rapier because it is literally dead.
