I don’t think it’s inherently predatory to buy low and sell high. It can be predatory, yes, if you buy low and sell VERY high. But some (and I think most) people are simply trying to earn a fair profit and are not trying to be “predatory” with their profit margins.

get me a legitimate definition of “predatory market” that is exclusive to any mmorpg.

Spoiler, it doesnt exist in video games. because theyre VIDEO GAMES, not real life.

secondly, i dont think you can defend your point. thats why you will not discuss. your defense is about as stout as a fifteen inch wall of sand vs a wrecking ball- IE common sense.

This is exactly my opinion on this. I did this in WOW all the time. I haven’t gotten into the Trader much in NW. It was the bots and people making enchanting components worth nothing. If you disenchant a blue for instance and the shard is worth less than selling the blue to the vendor there is a problem. So, buy all of those shards and mark them at a fair price that makes a few gold profit above what the blue would sell to a vendor for. Take all the shards you bought and put them at that normal market price within a gold or so. People will underbid all day. But, here is the big takeaway, “those people will be getting more of a fair price for their shards at your expense”. Until you log on 6 hours later and buy all theirs and mark it up again. But, if we didn’t do that things would just go down, down ,down and never up.

How about giving me contact data of your land lord?
I’ll like to make a deal with him.

Paying him your former rent while i charge you tripple the rent.
Should be fine with you, because tehre are no predatory markets (by your claim).

telling me a predatory market exists in an mmorpg is like telling me the banking clerk will drop a bag of loot with gold coins in it IRL.

you are a complete baboon! THATS REAL LIFE. were talking about a VIDEO GAME. you are complaining about features in a video game.

your counter agrument is a game vs IRL comparison and hold zero value whatsoever and is so completely absurd i literally couldnt stifle a laugh. come on dude. image

So you don’t understand?!

How… unexpected.

bro. i specifically asked about a definition for video games to validate your claim that this market in this video game is in fact catagorized as a “predatory market”. you failed. you instead went to a real life vs fake life comparison that is utterly worthless. this doesnt prove your point at all.

now OBVIOUSLY your example is 100% illegal in the real world. what you call a predatory market. so i fail to see your point in that regard- because it literally doesnt exist.

and to totally shit on your arguement, you know, where you charge me triple my rent or whatever- somehow magically rendering my rental agreement null- id just sue them and pay your triple rent anyway. god. why am i wasting time on you?

Ok, let’s make it very easy. Just for you.

Everytime you buy at the Trading Post, that stuff is sold for me for the original price.
After that i sell it to you for the tripple price.

Everytime you pay rent for your ingame house, it’s me that pays the original rent.
YOU will pay me tripple the rent.

easy enough?

Do you really expect that ANYONE would go for such a deal? There are TWO major problems with your way of thinking.
Your 1st problem is that his landlord as an owner of the house/flat is ONLY eliglible person to decide about renting costs.
Your second problem is that you believe someone would actually AGREE for a TRIPLE times normal fee to pay to rent a flat/house?
You just proven that you have no damn idea about economics and/or markets.
Your 3rd problem is that you don’t see any difference with buying things and renting things. I dare you to buy a flat and then rent it for 3x regular fee. Would love to see if someone actually did sign a paper with you :joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy::rofl::joy:

So…

If I put something on the market, at what would be a legitimate market value (cost of materials + small profit because capitalism) and another guy decides he wants to sell all his inventory of the same items quickly so he throws them in at half market value, he’s not the bad guy?

I am because I buy all of his items (giving him the money he wants btw), and posting them back at proper values where they were consistently selling beforehand?

They got their order profit. I get mine. How is that predatory, or wrong in any regard?

I see this all the time. And I’m constantly monitoring what the sale price is for the product I’m going to sell. Very often they bring down the price by selling only a few pieces at a reduced price. This is also in WoW.

It’s you that is having a problem here…

So, what prevents people from buying stuff that is only worth 0.02 from the TP and put ot up again for 1.25?
Answer: nothing.

Your only choice is not to buy. Maybe now you start to see the problem.

thank god other intelligent life exists. i was worried for a moment. can you believe people like this are allowed to reproduce? F me.

Yes, you are allowed to reproduce.

its a free market! the reason buying stuff at .02 is because other people CONSENT to this by selling their goods for that number!

who defines the actual worth of an item? you? god? the kids next door?
no. MARKET VALUE does.

also if you chose to buy hypothetical item xyz for 1.25g when it gets filled in buy orders for .02… your just a fool. and you deserve t obe taken advantage of by default. your agrument for a predatory market is complete AIDS because everything on a FREE market requires consent from both parties.

there. your argument is destroyed. can you go away now?

Alright, so, like, yeah, you can have a predatory market in a video game. Buy all of an item at rock bottom prices, then sell it at 100x the purchased price, forcing everyone to pay the 100x inflated price is in fact a predatory thing to do.

Calm down a little.

It isn’t.

I gave my solution to this problem. Just make stuff tradeable once. Problem solved.

Idk about you but I’m smelling something? Communism maybe. *sniff sniff. Lol
