I’m not certain how this would be considered exploitable. This is the area after the restart of servers and not including what is behind me. I think this is more of an overabundance of pigs put in a single location with a lowish respawn time. There are roughly 20+ spawn locations of pigs in this small area.
The pigs respawn every 30+ seconds, it is not instantaneous. By the time all the pigs are dealt with, the initial phase of pigs are beginning to respawn. If the amount of pigs at the camp were reduced, the problem would be fixed as the respawn timer is on par with the rest of the game.
This is much different than the elite bear in the cave that automatically spawns after death and then has a chance to double spawn.
At Noblereach, you can AoE farm the skeletons. In my largest pull, I can clear a set of skeletons in less than 10seconds for about 400xp then wait for all of the skeletons to respawn in 30seconds to a minute after death. This can be done solo and I don’t need 10-15+ people to be effective.
This is not like the multiple spawns of an elite bear, which shouldn’t happen.
If this is exploit than every elite mob area where people are grinding to level up their weapons are also exploits. You should just nerf everything. All those area also have mobs that respawn very fast and drop tons of loots and materials. And just watch the player population plummet because you are taking away their options on how they want to level, if they have no interest in side quests or town board mission grind least you can do is give players option to just grind mobs and level up. Let players play how they want.
This is a sound argument. The problem with this whole thread for the Restless Shores boars is not that it is an exploit like the bear cave at Monarch’s Bluff, is more of a “If I can’t have it, then I’m going to have it nerfed so you can’t have it” case.
Not every little community complaint should be definitely taken as a consideration as not every community will list things for the sake of the game, but for the sake of their egoism. I am not stating that bugs shouldn’t be considered, but that the report of a bug is made objectively because something’s not working as intended like not being able to auto run after a portal, having to start a logging animation to fix it.
If this is an “exploit” in an MMO I want no part of it. This is literally what we did in Everquest to lvl, sit and farm spawns, thats part of being an open MMO / Sandbox, and then we have No good’s reporting for legit xp farming.
Hopefully the fix will just be a tuning of the spawn rate, not some heavy handed reaction to certain players not understanding that aoe grinding a spot or repeat farming a boss for an item you want is standard mmorpg behaviour.
I really hope that the fix will just be a tuning of the spawn rate.
I think we have a lot of players who are not used to playing in an mmorpg environment. They do not seem to understand that aoe grinding in a spot or repeat farming a boss for an item you want is standard mmorpg behaviour.
Why are you reporting people for normal mmorpg behaviour?
I have been playing these games for 20 years and in just about every one people aoe grind in certain spots or repeatedly farm a certain boss for a prized item.
The spawn rates need tweaking a bit in certain areas for sure but its not something to report people over to try and get them into trouble.
When its clear its not as intended. but you still use it. is clearly a you problem and if there is any sort of punishment you should expect it. For two because it would impact so many ignorant people I would not recommend a punishment for the good of the game.
They made a mass world they want you to explore. its pretty clear this was not intentional. if there is a punishment because you exploited the spot so be it. its your own fault no matter how you look at it. HOWEVER it is so wide spread now that it would impact too many people to issue a punishment of anything past a warning. But if it is more severe than that you made your own bed.
but what do i know its really only putting 2 and 2 together. I’m sure someone is itching to disagree!!
I never looked at it from a mats perspective because I come from EQ and killing mobs like this is just how you got xp there. I feel for those that are affected by the economy, whether it stinks or not is up for debate. If you were on my server Id supply you with furs free of charge, im not a tradeskiller, I just enjoy relaxing and killing. Never went to the boars, I like the undead towns, more xp and still fast respawns.
Maybe they could make it crystal clear what would and wouldn’t be classed as exploiting then. They’ve been particularly slow at stopping what would clearly be seen as exploiting in other games so a lot of us have maybe been missing out when we could have been “XP grinding”.
Do you really try to compare grinding a regular spawn spot or a boss with standing on a roof doing nothing than killing the same weak enemy that cant hurt you in any way for tons of exp and mats?
People havnt complained because of the grinding it self but because of the overpowered spot and its not that difficult to get that this was way to heavy and too easy.
I was there only for the quest and already after 10 pigs i thought that this could not be the intention of creating this place for the devs.
An Elite Zone or a Boss is a whole other level. In the Elite Zones there are many different type of mobs, some easy and some little more hard. And you are running trough it. Theres a chance to die maybe…
The Boss has some mechanics etc. but this spot was just standing an killing the same weak pigs.
Cant you see the differenz between this and a boss that you reach after a whole dungeon or running an elite mob zone and that it was unfair when you compare it with regular ways or lets say „other“ ways to gain exp?
*change every „was“ to „is“ bcause its not fixed
Its like farming iron ore but you dont move because the one ore that you found has an instant respawn. The Farming is not the problem but the ore spot.
In other MMO games in such a case there where rollbacks of many players because of bugs that where tracked and the players lost their exp after the bug was done.
