This wasn’t just a quick fix where there expectations was everyone was gonna pick up roots and move from the richest. Kat developed settlements.
Many items cited as examples of the linked trading post significantly reduced in value are items that had a significant increase on drop rates due to a big fix that caused items to be artificially rare.
Overall despite the vocal settlement traders who can’t. Buy items from one place in a settlement and sell them somewhere else wasn’t generating enough sales that helped these settlements generate taxes for upgrades
All the data provided is subjective generalizations based on the premise for the ltp to achieve it’s intended purpose is that settlement tax revenue would be similar
This isn’t a reasonable expectation. It is also not the only change that will be implemented to spread the wealth
Settlements make revenue off of trade taxes, property taxes , crafting taxes and refining taxes. This change just addressed. 1/4 of the settlements tax revenue.
If I go out on a farming run . I can now sell that stuff at the territory I am at and the item is available to the while server to buy.
This is a Qol improvement and a needed one.
Ebonscale and mourningdale. Settlements in the right hands can now have sustainable income as the cons to moving and setting up a home base there are less detrimental .
The LTP. Has been out for two weeks . The old system was in place for 2 months…
The impact on players also seems to be ignored… if equipment I wanna buy is on first light … I don’t have to travel to first light to buy it . I can buy it and spend time traveling to some place more lucrative. That is value to me .
Deflation due to linking the trading post has been minimal and some items across many servers have seen their values increase.
The market is far more stable as supply and demand is based on overall available and not segmented
Companies have many deterrents systematically in place to dissaude them from upgrading their territories. Invasion penalties being the prime driver.
What’s is encouraging at least server is companies are trying to keep their towns upgraded. Where they had given up before.
They are seeing higher incomes and somewhat keeping up on their improvements.
People can now move to their faction owned territories without feeling they are losing out due to restrictive trading. Companies owning settlements now can pitch their members to invest in their settlements and store their goods there even if they do their crafting and refining elsewhere. Lots of empty houses before tlp. Those houses are getting bought now at the higher tiers for more storage.
As a seller I can goto a settlement with a 2 percent reading tax and have a reasonable chance to sell my goods in a timely manner over a place with. 4% trading tax. Before I couldn’t do that.
Imo the LTP is doing what it is supposed to and moving the goalposts or unsubstantiated rhetoric doesn’t change that
