I created an account just to voice my extreme support of this move. It’s so great. And seeing all the people in this thread crying about it makes me nervous that AGS will listen to a vocal minority. The game isn’t populated enough to actually have territory based auction houses. The markets are inefficient and this will make the experience better and deliver better prices to buyers. With Azoth as rare and expensive as it is, making me port between WW and EF or over to WF just to buy something I need is and always has been silly. Glad this is changing.
yeah haha, the GE in runescape is totally useless and everything is worthless haha.
auction house layout isnt the issue in this game, its the number of resources you get for gathering. there is zero risk to gathering thousands of a given resource because its no longer forced PvP but still rewards you like it is.
Bye, you won’t be missed.
all trade posts are now linked if im reading right
Vocal minority haha. This is how democracy works. If you don’t speak, then you are actually the minority. Majority of players in this topic are against these changes.
Just throwing my 2 cents in here that I whole-heartedly support this change. The fears being listed here are not well thought out, and can be summed up as::
-
This will cause deflation - the effect is going to be negligible. Players are ALREADY taking the mats from other territories and selling them at EF and WW. There are so few mats sold at other territories that injecting them in to the supply won’t make too much of a difference. This is another fancy way of saying that the market is ALREADY centralized (since over 80% of all items are sold in 2 territories), so any deflationary effects from centralized markets is ALREADY realized. (and, surprise surprise, none of the benefits of being centralized are currently being realized since the owner of the territory where goods are being extracted from are not getting taxes).

this deflation will cause ghost towns - what? first, you have to assume number 1 is true, which I presented my arguments against. second, even if it was true (it’s not) it just doesn’t pass the smell test for anything other than mats that require thousands and thousands to be useful. use cinnamon as an example: on my server, as I’m sure is the case on many servers, cinnamon is cheap in Monarch’s but expensive in Everfall. This makes sense: cinnamon doesn’t grow in EF and its demand is higher (townboards and such). So after linking posts, what’s the most reasonable change? The price equalizes to somewhere between the 2 ends because the surplus supply and the surplus demand are now interacting with each other. But here’s the real benefit: now those players that go to Monarch’s to farm can just pop over to the city to sell. Which increases Monarch’s foot traffic. Prior, they would be HIGHLY more likely to go back to EF, since demand is higher. Thus, Monarch’s traffic suffered.
AND SPEAKING OF TOWNBOARDS, just to put the last nail in the coffin for you doomers about this, there is one highly important aspect you have missed: linking trading posts will actually INCREASE demand of certain goods. Think about it for a second: what creates a constant background demand? Mat sinks. What is the main static mat sink in this game? Townboards. Guess what our current ghost towns don’t have a lot of? You guessed it: townboards. And why is this? Because they can’t afford to upgrade their towns.
TLDR: Tertiary towns making more $$ = more upgrades = town boards = more total, global demand for materials. Of course if you believe number 1 and 2 above then this doesn’t work, but I can’t help you if you can’t see that number 1 and 2 don’t makes sense.
I’m pro linked auction houses. Since you’re claiming the majority of players in this thread do not support a linked AH, what’s the count for and against? Or are you just speaking from ignorance?
This. I am completely for this change. There just simply isn’t enough people on my server(and I suspect most) to make regional trading work. The regional trading was a good idea in theory, but in reality I think this is the better option.
Welcome to the forums!!
As one of those “crying” about the potential change, I welcome all voices to ensure it’s not just a vocal minority one way or another.
My concern is a major system is about to be changed 1 month into GA and it seems kind of reactionary as a method to try to solve “dead” settlement issues.
1 month isn’t enough time to see if those of us that want to merchant can actually merchant in high-end zones.
I hit 60 this week (which makes me doubly bad, as a casual), but only 9-9.5% of players have achieved this (according to steam stats).
For everyone saying “but all these other MMOs have a linked AH and its fine”… Amazon’s not going to create a successful MMO simply following the playbook of others.
IMO Give it time, and beef up rewards for territory standing in creative ways to give NW a unique flair.
None of the Trading Posts are linked in Ute-Yomigo. Was this supposed to go live today or is it in another big update later this month?
They just released a statement saying they are disappointed with the amount of gold being earned by players in the end game
No, in the November Monthly Release. Today’s was a weekly patch
@Luxendra thank you for keeping an eye on this topic. Can we determine what is the majority of players who want a change? Because right now I can see more people on this topic are mostly disappointed about upcoming changes after all. A poll or anything would be maybe good if that is a possibility for AGS team to make decisions.
You keep saying stuff like this, but you still haven’t given a count.
I did. Why don’t you make one yourself, it’s not that hard.
You’re the one making the claim; therefore the onus of proof is on you.
Well then I just said I did a count and found majority xD Dude you don’t know the rhetorics do you?
Global Auction is a great idea. +1
You’ve stated the a majority of players in this thread are against the change. You’ve yet to provide evidence of that claim.
There are smarter ways to redistribute wealth from major trade towns. This is the first thing many people think of but also has large drawbacks. Trading centers could pay a % of their trading tax as upkeep, but they should be paying it towards the current upkeep fees of outer towns. Their change won’t even move players around it just means people who farm resources will set it on Tp closest to their farm and people crafting will stay in the crafting towns.
