Hello there @R-C_Morrison, welcome back to the New World forums,
Thank you for reaching out with your question, I just want to let you know that the information kindly provided by @JakeL is correct, you can follow the link they provided for the full information!
Let me know if there is anything else we can help you with.
Ok, makes sense I guess : boot absent players to make room for active ones. Got it. But now that I can play again, I have zero options to actually play the game with my friends b/c of this forced change. Yes, waiting until El Dorado unlocks is one option but it is not an option that allows me to play with my friends now, when I actually want to, and have time to, play again. Guess I’ll just uninstall and go back to playing with those same friends in our other games that we enjoy that don’t have these types of restrictions. Thanks though.
@Jormungandrh : Sooo… with the changes to the 1-25 experience (among other changes that look interesting), I may start a new character. Some friends are willing to start to new chars on another server too.
Questions: What are my options for having a new character I create, or my existing lvl 60, transfer to El Dorado? Is it always going to be a matter of waiting until that world is unlocked? And is there an automated way to find out if it becomes unlocked, or do I have to check that game server/world status website every single day?
Character creation and transfer to El Dorado are both locked right now. You’d have to wait until it unlocked to either create a new character there or transfer in. You would be able to transfer either characters into El Dorado once it unlocked.
There is no automated way to figure out if it is unlocked. The website below shows the current status of the servers.
Thanks for the help @JakeL. If it weren’t for so many interesting changes (to me at least) in Brimstone Sands, I wouldn’t even consider starting over, let alone on another server/world. But with everything in the latest update, it really has me wanting to give it another go. Although I will miss my houses when I start over…
I see that El Dorado is no longer locked or full according to the server status page. However, I still cannot select that world for my character. It continues to say I can only have 1 character in that world set. I have only that one character on US West so am not sure what the issue is.
Can you please look into why I cannot select that world now that it’s unlocked?
I saw another post of someone with the same issue, and it was suggested by support that they make sure they delete any PTR character they may have on the server/world in question. I’m re-installing the PTR so that I can check that, since I may actually have a character on US West in the PTR (can’t recall).
Ok, got the PTR reinstalled and I checked : I have no PTR characters at all. US West isn’t even an option for having a PTR character. So I really have no idea why the game will not let me pick a world that is currently showing as unlocked and accepting transfers.
I didn’t receive a ticket # when I created the web ticket so I don’t have any way to check the status of it.
Ok, the answer from the web ticket was the same as the web page link provided above:
“You may choose from any unlocked worlds and will retain any previous transfer token provided.”
However, this is NOT what is happening. I can NOT choose from any unlocked world. I have only one character on US West, and it is the character that is in limbo right now that cannot transfer to an unlocked world.
Is this really the intended behavior? What are my options? An earlier response in this thread was “You’d have to wait until it unlocked to either create a new character there or transfer in”. This is NOT how it is working right now. El Dorado on US West is unlocked and I cannot create a new character there, nor can I direct my existing character there. Screenshots provided above show what I am seeing:
You can only have 1 character in a World Set.
It seems like when my character was removed from El Dorado by AGS due to inactivity, something did not happen in the background like it should have, and the system is thinking that I still have a character in a world there (El Dorado), even though it was removed from that world.
Please let me know what my options are to get my current, and only, US West character back into El Dorado now that it is unlocked, b/c as you can see from the screenshots above, the game will not allow me to do this.
Do I have to put my character into another US West world other than El Dorado (even though El Dorado is unlocked) and then transfer that character to El Dorado (assuming El Dorado is still unlocked when I try to transfer)? I do NOT want to go through all of that only to find out I still get this error about being able to have only 1 character per world set.
I have one character on US West, named Juan AnDonly. That character was removed from El Dorado for inactivity and currently “is not bound to any world.” (that is the in-game wording). I am now trying to get that character back into El Dorado but cannot. El Dorado is currently not locked and is available for character transfer. Again, I only have that one character on US West and it is not bound to any world. However, the game will not allow me to put this character back in El Dorado. It says “You can only have 1 character in a World Set.”.
How do I get my existing character on US West, which is not bound to any world according to the game, into El Dorado, a world which is currently not locked and is available for character transfer? I cannot do this via the in-game options and the info at World and Queue Mitigation News is of no use b/c the game is incorrectly saying I already have a character in El Dorado.
The developer team informed that the issue that you are currently facing is a known bug and the team is currently working on it to fix it as soon as possible.
Please keep an eye on our official forum from the link mentioned below for for any updates regarding this issue.
I didn’t see anything on that site about this issue in particular though.
Since I have nothing to lose, I’m going to try selecting another world on US West and making that my new home. Hopefully that will “reset” whatever flag is still set in the background that seems to be keeping my “worldless” character connected to El Dorado. Then I’ll use a transfer token (should have a free one still) to xfer from that world back to El Dorado. Theoretically…
The server xfer page says “Your Company membership needs to be terminated before transferring, and will not carry over.” I did not leave my company b/c I didn’t plan on getting booted from El Dorado. So when I was force-booted, it sounds like I should have been kicked from my company. However, my company says I’m still showing up as a member, even though I supposedly am world-less, which should mean I’m company-less. Guess there could be multiple issues going on with my character due to the force-boot. I’ll try the xfer process and post how it goes.
Well, I set my character to another world in US West and it worked fine. I can now create a new character in El Dorado but b/c apparently this force-boot situation is considered a transfer, I now have to wait 3.5 days before I can transfer (again?). If El Dorado is locked at that point I will be uninstalling and not looking back…
Ok, it worked. I was able to finally get back into the world that I was originally removed from. I had to put my character that was not bound to any world into another world in the same region. This did not require a transfer token. At that point, my character was now bound to that new world and most importantly, it was not connected to the old world at all (even though the game said I was not bound to any world, it really did keep me bound to my old world). I had to wait 3.5 days before I could do a transfer, but once that time limit was up, I was able to use a transfer token (I had two free ones already) to transfer back to the world I was originally removed from. All is well, and I can get caught up with the new content and enjoy the new features. And now I know to at least log in once a month if something comes up where I can’t play often…
Hopefully they fix the bug that causes your character to still be bound to the world from which they removed you from for inactivity. But at least it is still possible to work around it, although it does take a few days of waiting, costs a transfer token, and it will still not work if you are unlucky enough to have the world you want to transfer back to be locked again.
