Well there is a quest you see, and the bears are above what players have grown accustomed to up to that point.
There were a few other quests that if you didn’t cheese them, they were relatively difficult. Then they got de cheesed and then later nerfed a little.
For some builds this was all ok for others it was just a pain in the ass
I can’t see how the changes drastically change the experience. There is plenty more in the game that leaves you with the ‘wtf’’ moments intended or other wise.
Well that’s sadly the typical mindset of a lot of how we call them in FFXIV “casual no-lifers”.
It’s the same people who are mad PvP gets somewhat equalized.
I played for 3k hours so I should 1v20. Trashmobs and players alike.
The 2001 Korean mmo Fantasy
No need for any skill or brainusage, just unga bunga damage cuz me gud
My theory is some middle manager decided to play and didn’t like his repair bill after dying in dungeons so they nerfed it. The same guy then decided to solo some bears and didn’t like it promptly sending out a strongly worded email. There’s no other explanation, no one wanted or asked for this dumbing down of the game.
this theory would explain a lot of the games decisions.
but all jokes aside its just the way the game is going to be from now on.
games with levels and progression can’t function like a game that is pseudo deleveled.
bears tbh were anachronistic at launch because they were a remnant of a design that was already dead before launch. they just stood there as a reminder of how the game could have been b4 becoming generic MMO power fantasy game.
power fantasy games have trash mobs and they have hard mobs.
the difference between the two is literally the point in time the game exists and when you are playing it.
eventually everything becomes a trash mob over time w power creep.
My guess? Automation/monitoring that decided people were dying too much to these mechanics. The mobs with these abilities are hard for inexperienced players, and some of the mob types are very common across the world.
I know as much as I troll the forums asking for things like making mutations easier Ive been on the bandwagon of trying to point out to ppl still in denial game is getting easier and generic.
soulsborne mmo died forever and a half ago.
the same decisions that killed it are the same ones that will kill any hope of hard mode PvE content that won’t be overcome w gear and time.
that’s pretty much the point of all these posts, when you make gear and time spent the most important determinant factor of a game players ability to tackle content then any expectation of the player learning to play the game to clear content naturally goes out the window.
welcome to same as all the other MMOs world.
also have you read the about game website, they literally changed the description a while back to move away from the terms skill based and more towards you will gain power and level or something to that affect.
they back dated it may '21 pretty sure I recall a toon combat and skill based combat on the site well into release. but this should end any doubt as to the core direction of the game going forward.
They should make an on/off switch for stagger in the menu for peoples who think their world ended by removing stagger. It is ridiculous for a tank to be tossed around like nothing with all the best gear by normal mobs, only bosses should do that. I don’t care if you all hate me for my opinion, I enjoy this change.
Rift was a solid MMO where you could create and absolute garbage tier class by mixing up the wrong combination of classes. You could combine a cleric and a fighter and make a paladin for instance. Then they nerfed that and made all new characters premade, made mobs laughably easy and completely removed falling damage. The game became a bore fest and died
I remember when I was first leveling as a GA user and Bears were IMPOSSIBLE to kill. When I finally killed a bear, it was a huge moment for me. I felt so proud to have defeated this toughest of foes.
Then I played a ranged class and was like WTF, these big stupid animals are so freaking easy to kill. The stop and stand and make it easy to headshot or dodge away.
cool, because you want to sit and passive tank with block key we get it.
you’d perhaps note that some advocate for grit to be moved from 300 str to 300 con for the exact reason you mention, kinda solves your issue wo messing up a core mechanic doesn’t it?
