I run 300 DEX and 150 INT. I have seen other people using INT gems in their muskets. Does this increase the damage of the standard musket shot and if so how? Just wanting to know If I should put an INT gem in mine also. Thank you.
The perks for taking 150 int increase elemental damage. So it is smart to put a 50% gem in your gun
Happy shooting
If you play with a sticky bomb don’t use INT gems. Otherwise INT gem is a way to go
it splits your dmg in half and boosts your “elemental” half by 15% from 150 INT bonus.
True Ales however, using a fire gem (ruby) does not have any effect on sticky bomb at all. So if you still want split damage on shots and be able to use sticky bomb, slot a ruby. Otherwise, ice/arcane are next up depending on what your doing most of the time. Otherwise if you fine with eating food in pvp to stay topped off on health, diamond is another good one.
Musket builds are fairly easy to do (but expensive nonetheless). Firstly, you need 300+ dex / 200 int. Infamy with a damage conversion gem. Wear light armor with full resilient & refreshing. Crippling powderburn & empowering shooter stance. Once you have all the right gear, you will be doing the damage you see other musket players doing.
The difference between 150 & 200 int is massive. Unfortunately, you have to be a full glass cannon or you will be more or less worthless. I don’t care what the GA / Mage player says on the forums, but musket has one of the highest skill ceilings out of all the weapons. If you miss any of your shots, you won’t get the kill unless the other player doesn’t react.
yal by chance know if the 250 spell duration works on the powder burn?
250/250 sounds like it could be fun.
nope. however, the Burning perk on a ring can increase the burn time by 30%…
damn shame o well.
You should definitely use an elemental gem, you get some extra dmg from the int perks also the elemental damage bypass the armor and most defensives of the enemies. Usually Lightning is the one you should get, or if you have the surgeons ring then switch to void gem. The arcane or fire isn’t that good, your shots will be a lot more visible and against enemy musketeers you will be a glowing sign to shoot there.
Tested it, 250/250 is much weaker than a 300/200 and Im not sure if the powder burn were longer, or if it was then it was such a minimal difference that it wasn’t worth it.
Although Imo 300/150/50 is still the sweet spot if you sometimes get into duels and using the rapier or fighting enemy rangeds and dont want to play ratty running away after one hit type.
thx for doing the legwork.
disappointing but not surprising.
Yeah the bullet trail is more noticeable. Just for ease of explaining sticky bomb w/ elemental gem that ruby is the only one that doesn’t affect it until AGS fixes their conversion gems properly for weapons that deal any kind of elemental damage. Arcane just overall most “balanced” for PvE if they’re lazy about switching gems for each scenario. “Introductory” into musket play so they dont put too much into it. But yeah, you’re 100% right about gems/ring to go with the musket.
As for bullet trails though, only one hard to follow is lightning. Anything else is pretty simple to follow, even void more so imo for me than some of the other elemental gems.
Lightning is good for pve too. Not that many mob have resistence against it and you can use it against anciencts and corrupted so those who dont want to change gems that much should just use that. Or do it like I do, use void everywhere because its pointless to change it just to kill some mob.
Someone said above us that the sticky working with fire gem too. Idk if its true I never tried it but I see it being true.
