Looking forward for PVP arena. Suggestions

I might sound abit pessimistic, but I wouldnt have too high hopes for a pvp arena. Its pretty evident at this point that this game lacks development work. Bugs thats been reported since beta are still around, no roadmap, no actual content (Mutated dungeons are just old content with a twist, the lazy way of game development), no communication, no balancing etc etc. PVP is not a priority in this game at all. The OPR system has made that clear. Most pvp players will be gone before AGS even consider arena, and then its too late.
This game is more or less abandoned by AGS. They dont even add microtransactions and store items anymore, thats how little they care about this game. This game is an unfinished cashgrab and will go down in history as a meme and a failure. AGS probably earned alot of money on initial sales, but they broke records when it comes to playerbase leaving due to poor development choices. Impressive.

There are some suggestions for pvp arenas I’d like to put out:

2v2/3v3 deathmatch arena, very simple you win if everybody in the enemy team dies(no respawns), if there’s still people alive on both sides when the clock runs down(5mins at most) then win is given to the side with the most players alive or if that’s also a tie then the side which has the highest combined damage done (if anybody played Skyring 3v3 arena in Tera back in 2012/2013, imo that was one of the best pvp arenas)

5v5 king-of-the-hill arena, basically like capture-the-point in wars/opr but on a much smaller scale, there’s one point only in a wide open space and the objective is to stand on the point to gain points over time for each person on the point, but you also get points for killing enemy players as well. Basically a much smaller scale of OPR that does away with the pve elements and also hopefully less laggy and should take much less time than a standard opr match(ideally like 10mins).

Oh, and there needs to be separate queues for solo-queue and party-queue too of course.

a Colosseum like the roman one you got tigers to chuck in there and other fun enemys people to fight and big area for people to sit and watch like someone in my company saidd…sorry i cant remmeber name but then the “winner” of the colosseum after however many wins/rounds/people beaten they get a title like “gladiator” or something… i mean you ccould put it in the areas that you havent opened yet would be nice to have another area to go to would def fit in the desert area :slight_smile:

Please however this is done, can you please make this region wide, with an actual leaderboard, for the sake of the future of this game’s viable streamable pvp content

This for me is like a dream.

A colosseum in the map where everybody can go and fight for a prize. Also if you don’t want to fight you can just sit and watch.

Could be really nice.

MMR with solo queue and a completely separate team based environment for pre-mades and companies of various sizes.

I think the ultimate endgame for everybody as far as competitive wars would be some sort of cross-server king of the Hill for companies to compete with worldwide rankings.

But to start out with just make full pvp deathmatch arenas with different options for team sizes, win conditions like time limit, and kill count just to start out then after those are in adding things like Capture the Flag and bomb/disarm could be good.

I’d also like to add I’ve seen it previously suggested multiple times that people seem to want to artificially limit healers for some reason when literally every character in New World has access to the same weapons and abilities is just baffling.

Please don’t start down the path of artificially limiting this or that because it’ll gimp meta progression and that’s something we don’t need. If something proves to be too strong then find ways to nerf it that make sense. Make it make sense.

Rewarding players with umbral shards for playing is highly encouraged.

1v1s, 2v2s, and 5v5s with a traditional individual Elo ranking system that can be on a leaderboard and a seasonal reset so it doesn’t get stale.

Cosmetic rewards for different ranks is a great incentive, especially when it’s stuff that we can wear over existing gear. Like I enjoy x outfit in game, but having a golden halo on my head or a red cloak on top of that shows that I made the top rank on the pvp leaderboards.

The biggest issue will be matchmaking. Even right now, most servers don’t have more than one game of OPR going it seems. So if you want real matchmaking that gives varied encounters and encompasses all skill brackets, this has to be cross server. I understand that this might be a massive technical issue, but I do not believe that introducing any ranked leaderboard in the current state of the game would help. The population is too small per server, and we see this even with wars. Companies are mass transferring characters because they get bored fighting the same 4 groups of people. Variation is the spice of pvp, and you need a population to support that.

Cool idea!

This game needs a rating system that is based on wins, similar to any other ranked arena, where you gain rating points per win lose them per loss based on the opponents rating. You need a leaderboard, and you need this to make it regionwide matchmaking as soon as you possibly can.
Even consider making the whole system not gear dependent, and allow people to play with balanced gear levels etc, and watch it explode in interaction.

95% of your pvpers right now have to wait until 9pm to have 30 minutes of pvp at a chest farmers expense, or they are coping with wars because there is no consistent small scale alternative. Dueling doesn’t even come close to how fun arenas are, duels have extreme imbalances per set up, and nobody would take a solo arena serious.

You need to include cosmetic incentives for mastery. Someone is #1? Give them a cool title, a sick skin, let them show it off.

This game has awesome potential for 3v3, 5v5, I’ve even been in companies that set up 5v5s between companies or in house, and it was by far the best experience I have ever had in this game. Please stimulate this potential, give this game an opportunity to grow in interaction again, Don’t let it die because fearful boomers think that 15 minutes of pvp will suffer at 9pm twice a week in medium to high pop servers in scorched mines, I’m begging you lmao.

There is so much opportunity here, don’t let it fall short on some roleplay arena that has no leaderboard, no matchmaking, and no rewards, your community is begging you.

it just needs to be region based, they can release it server based first to release it and get feedback, but until its region based they will not even remotely feel the level of community that can come about from a rated regional arena ladder

also the populations are small for wars, but if you are comparing that to the population of people who would be interested in 3v3s, expect a far larger turnout, its much easier to get 2 friends and hit que

Nothing too crazy, just a win loss leaderboard would suffice, It’d be nice to see who the best pvpers are in the servers, see whos worth recruiting or duelling to improve your own kill, something to be proud about and work at. I’d honestly play 12 hours a day, I know this because I already duel for nothing right now, with something to work for it’d be amazing

You can add a timer to the matches… say 5 minutes. After 5 minutes you can disable any type of regeneration buffs, hp regen %, heals, potions, aka anything that can heal a player. In addition to this regeneration freeze, you can add a mechanic where a noxious gas that starts from the outer ring, slowly creeps to the center. If you are caught in this gas, you lose x% (maybe 20%) of your hp per second and slowed. So, chances are, if you are caught in this gas, you die.

This will prevent stalemates and long fights. It also encourages “creative play” that does not center around a healer since players know it’s a timed fight with a last man standing at the end.

I think the most difficult part of all this is getting players MMR right from the start so we don’t have to go back and fix the formula down the road.

I think expertise should play a small part so fresh 60s aren’t being put up against full 625 war core of the best company on the server.

But other than that, expertise shouldn’t really play a part in MMR.

Things that do matter:

Wins, losses.
Frequent disconnects/leaves/afks

Things that don’t matter:

KDA

IF we get a good, clear, straight to the point MMR system and hopefully maybe one day cross-server queues, then all of a sudden New World can start to really compete with other competitive PvP games.

This point needs to be hammered into dev heads.

Until we have regional or cross-server rankings of some kind, New World will never experience the level of community/server pride that it CAN achieve.

We’re all in it to win it, hope the devs are too.

And I want to share what is happening in the OPR and it is so frustrate, I’m almost not playing OPR anymore, I returned to another MMO that have a specific pvp area and Battlegrounds.

What is so frustrate in OPR right?
— We don’t score when we capture or defend the point. We are having a deathmatch. I’m tired to capture and defend points alone and see my teammates (10 guys) running after a rapier something around the outpost and ignoring the Outpost. And then 4 enemies come and make me get out of the point. If my teammates was with we will not lose the outpost.

I know that I have a topic about that, but until we have change the OPR scoreboard or/and have a Deathmatch arena I’m not playing NW anymore. I have a war tonight let see how will be. But I can accept the broken IG more then a nonsense OPR that will take 40 frustrate minutes from my time.

The other game I have Deathmatch when I want, I have capture the flag, the point when I want, I have a big pvp area when I want.

And this is exactly what pvpers want to do.

It is sad because NW is beautiful have a lot of potential but it is so frustrate for somebody that really wana focus in pvp.

There a bunch of MMORPGs that have great arena systems… why doesn’t Amazon developers just play these for a few hours and copy the best ones?

And a reward system like Albion will keep the arenas busy, but players staying in open world for most of their gametime (Albion limits rewards to 3 WINS per 22Hr period… after that you are just playing for practice/fun. You cannot grind the arenas all day for any progression/gold).

If we are at whiteboard ideation phase, it’s going to be a loooong time before Arenas are built, tested, and released.

30 minutes tops for topaz farm isn’t a long time. If it’s taking you an hour you need to find a better mob farm. I have one that I can get obsidian for at same time and done solo

I think the corruption is a good idea! It’s on theme and at 0/60 it does hit hard. A creeping corruption that takes over the arena and if you’re the wrong spot, you die, would be interesting.

Just as long as this happens only after the timer is done and all regeneration (including healing from all sources) is stopped to force break a tie and healer dependency.
