I cant tell if this is a troll or not at this point lol.
AGS is investing in NW for the long run, making F2P is the final nail in the coffin and quite frankly the dumbest decision they can possibly make at the moment. Nothing is black and white, F2P doesnt mean the game is saved… its the opposite
Bots are fine and make things cheaper. I can buy resources and my pals craft stuff for cheaper. I can fight and kill stuff in mutations, arenas and opr then just buy resources easier. Farming simulator it’s way better to gather stuff. What’s the difference between a guy at work who camps ori on his second monitor while working and a bot? You ain’t getting the ori anyway
It is very likely that they are waiting to finish the roadmap they have planned before making any major changes. When it ends, which is very close, it is most likely that we will have some kind of new world statement, but beware that if the game comes out “free” it is very likely that future patches will be paid.
You are getting something wrong… Albions main plattform isn’t steam, it’s even the least used plattform.
Main plattform is mobile, second is their own launcher. Steam users are and allways have been the minority for this game and yet those numbers peak at 9k each day.
Albion Online has one of the biggest player base I’ve ever seen. Over 150,000 players online every day in a full loot game. All solutions for New World are there in Albion, just copy and paste. Few people play on STEAN because it has a lot of bugs.
Albion Online is a success. I want New World to be a success too, but for that to happen AGS has to attract more players.
I wouldn’t be opposed to F2P servers being a thing, and that if players want to play with the rest of the population they have to invest in the game like the rest of us. I have seen too many F2P games turn into cesspools of toxicity because those who play it have ZERO investment in it and dont care if they get punished. F2P as a “try it before you buy it” mechanic is cool… not sure I would want to keep playing if the whole game went F2P this early in its life.
Lets see what the next year brings, if the game cant recover some of that loss then maybe…
This hurts New World far more than many including the Devs. Are willing to realize. At this point the choices for PvPers are this.
Spend 500 plus hours doing 3 hours of PvE content on repeat. Trying to catch up in New World to be a factor in PvP.
Spend less than 20 hours leveling in Lost Ark to be competitive in PvP.
Spend less than 20 hours leveling in Guild Wars 2 to be competitive in PvP.
Spend less than 50 hours leveling in Elder Scrolls Online to be a factor in PvP.
Wait for a new season in Black Desert Online. Then grind levels, gear, and skill points can be competitive in Seasonal Open World Forced PvP in under 100 hours.
Be competitive right out of the gate in PvP oriented genres like MOBAs, BRs, FPS, and Hero Shooters.
With all that in mind. It’s no wonder New World’s PvP scene is barren. PvPers can get a better experience with less PvE investment elsewhere.
Let’s just admit it. The Expertise system completely crippled this game’s PvP scene. And the lack of realistic catchup mechanics. Make sure that 99.999% of PvPers don’t bother with this game.(Don’t believe those numbers. Just go look at New World peak player count. Now go look at all of the MOBAs, FPSs, Survival, and Hero Shooters player count. It’s not even a competition.)
