This is one of my biggest annoyances. I’m hunting rabbits at level 15, and suddenly I’m having to take down level 6 wolves. It’s really frustrating, and it makes gathering a pain in the butt because I’ll try to go for some hemp, be targeted by something extremely low level, and then while I’m taking care of it another player will swoop in and take the hemp.
Every other MMO I’ve played has enemies well below you not aggro you.
There is a system in place for low-level mobs to ignore you if you have a high enough level difference. My guess is you just haven’t hit that threshold yet for level 6 mobs or you are getting right on top of them because it seems like they will aggro you if you get really close regardless.
That’s good to know. I know right now it’s hard to tell because respawn rates are so high but for the most part I’m trying to stay away from them when I’m gathering.
I’ve been playing a bit more since this post, and I have to say it is still a problem, albiet an inconsistent one.
I’m level 31, fully geared, and there are times where I’m in an area with level 2 mobs grinding for herbs where sometimes they ignore me, even if they touch me, and everything is fine. Then inexplicably I’ll go to harvest something and get rammed out of the way by a boar. It’s very frustrating and annoying and is still leading to instances of gatherables being poached because a level 2 boar decides to be brave.
