Luck bugged, more luck seeming to have negative effects

There is a total of 61 chests on this weavers route. Got the idea from Demone Kim’s video. Infinite Large Chest Farm Loop - New World - YouTube

My latest run, i had a full armour with luck, 3 bags, 3 items of jewelry including weavers knot, and 2 minor loot luck trophies. Totaling 28% + the two minor loot luck trophies.

I got one furniture schematic, one piece of furniture, one cooking recipe and the rarest item i haven’t seen before an Ember Stone. Along with a number of weapons/armour i salvaged.

The person i did this run with just had a weavers knot and got 9 furniture schematics, and 5 pieces of furniture, and 1 cooking recipe. Which seemed like an especially lucky run for them.

I’ve done this run 3 times before while trading post was disabled and couldn’t buy luck gear, with just two items of jewelry, my 3 bags and the two minor loot luck trophies. Total of 13.3% luck + the trophies.

And i consistently got between 4-8 furniture schematics, and 1-2 cooking recipes from the provisions stockpiles. Along with about 5 pieces of actual furniture. And did all those runs with my friend with a weavers knot and they had similar results, neither of us seemed consistently more lucky than the other.

I can’t tell if i just got incredibly unlucky when i got all my luck gear, but that seems like a huge discrepancy. I had a google and people are saying that amulets with luck are providing negative luck, so i’m gonna give this run another go minus the amulet and see if i get different results.

Its hard to tell if i it increased the rarities of weapons/armor i got since there were so many, and i had to do two rounds of salvaging due to bag space.

And I’ve seen people claim there are luck thresholds, so i may not be seeing uncommon/rare items, and its just letting me get a chance for epic/legendary which i guess is possible? But i have no idea, not sure how to test this better and if i can be bothered but i feel like if the amulet is potentially bugging the luck or if there are other items giving me negative luck it will be a pain to test which one is.

Without clarity on how it works, can’t tell if its a bug or this is as intended.

I actually just experienced this EXACT same thing. I’ve been farming chests all day long and all over the map for the Hope Chest schematic. Well, when I got to weavers a couple of friends tagged along. One of those friends has no luck gear and no trophies…NOTHING. We did every one of the good chests and at the end I was like…hermm well I get a couple of schematics and one furniture item…The friend with zero luck got like 12 furniture items and about 9 schematics and a couple of recipes. This isn’t an exaggeration. I thought they were giving me stuff from a previous run, but they said, “No, this is just from the ONE loop we’ve done of Weavers.”

Currently I have

2 Minor Luck Trophies
Necklace: 2.5% + 0.5%
Ring: 2.6% (I’d use Weaver’s Knot, but I can’t help but feel it is bugged and isn’t actually the double luck perk)
Earring: 2.6%
Head: 2.4%
Chest: 2.7% + 0.5%
Gloves: 2.7% + 0.5%
Pants: 2.6% + 0.5%
Boots: 2.7% + 0.5%
Bags: 2.4% + 1.9%

In total that is 27.6% + 2 Minor Trophies (If I use Weaver’s Knot add on another 1.2%, which makes 28.8% + 2 Minor Trophies).

Here’s the thing, though. I will say that I got blown out of the water in Weaver’s and I was like…wow…I guess I’m wasting my time getting a luck set together. However, we then went to Ebonscale. My friend still got a lot of stuff, but even though I didn’t get a lot I could consistently see more purple drops for weapons/armor off mobs for sure and out of chests I felt like I was seeing quite an increase comparatively. I also started seeing a couple of furniture items I’ve never had drop. My friend also got a couple of items I’ve never had drop, but I did seem to be finding less, but MORE higher tier items. A couple of the furniture items were T4 and I had the book drop for upgrading my harvesting trophy, etc.

So, I feel like Thresholds are a thing. Perhaps once you hit a certain threshold you are much less likely to get the other stuff that is EASIER to get, but you can still get it. While it is still very rare to get the better stuff, you have a HIGHER chance to get those things and the people without a luck set have almost no chance of getting them unless they have that like ridiculous WoW mount luck of like 0.01% sort of thing.

Or…or luck could be bugged. I do think thresholds are a thing though. Went and upgraded a couple of my pieces and added Pristine pearls I definitely saw a loot quality difference. Perhaps for some reason Schematics might not be properly taken into account for loot tables, but I am getting much less of the Maple schematics and such even if I’m not getting much of the better stuff.

Hopefully that all made sense. Kinda crazy we both just went through the identical situations. Also…Weavers is kinda nutty for chest runs, definitely out of all zones it was the quickest and easiest to hit all chests.

Good luck on your hunt and hopefully we get some responses. I just never know if things are bugged or I’m unlucky with this game, and it’s so frustrating because if I knew it was bugged I’d focus on something else, but I have no way of knowing. =/

Since this is referencing gathering and not looting chests…I’m trying to connect it properly. The bit I find interesting is better chances with higher skill in what you’re looting/node. Does that mean the higher my furnishing the better chance of better schematics for it I could get? Because I have 170 furnishing. I feel by now I should be seeing…the starmetal chest schematic. I’m definitely getting more of the higher tier furnishing schematics…in fact, a lot of Ori level stuff, but we skipped starmetal chest =/

Edit: I could also see with like mining void ore and such that certain nodes are definitely bugged. There have been many times where I get the sound like I should be getting something “extra” and all I get is ore, which I believe it is these nodes that are broken.

Hard to say till they give us information and answer on what is actually real, what the theoretical ranges should be…

Basically a way to know is this accurate, can I use this gear to get more, or will that matter?

Something is wrong, its hard to tell if its the latest patch or my new basic luck trophies but getting green bags from every single boss in RW is not normal for me… with 32-34% luck i was getting legendary schematics (broken hatchet etc) on 3/5 bosses. Now with 36-37% its like if i had none!

Edit: 37.4% luck… i just removed the basic trophies and im looking for some elite farming rn.

Thing is we had all that gear etc with luck before the last patch and it was very noticeable. Something broke its easy to tell.

some people are claiming amulets are bugged and gives negative luck but no info about the devs

I’ve been farming with my friends for two days. We farmed for legendary weapon materials. I have 34.9% luck on me “without trophies” (I have 1 major+2 minor). We killed more than 5k thousand mobs (I can track it via achievements). I couldn’t track the number of bags dropped but I assume it’s more than 300(it might be way more but I farmed like a bot so hard to count). I got 7 gold bags in total. My friend got more than 20 gold bags with just 20% luck (no luck trophies). My other friend got more than 10 gold bags but he farmed less compared to us (not even half our time) he has +23% (with minor luck trophies).

Believe me or not it’s not a rng thing, something is wrong. I have an idea about luck but not sure, imo every place has different sweet luck numbers/spots if you hit that spot you are good if not you will get less even if you have more luck.

Apart from this theory (bc it might be wrong) there is something wrong with luck for sure.

Edit: we were pvp.

totally agree, i was full luck gear + bags with jewels of luck, and i looted lot of purples killing corrupted camps + treasures in 62-63 non elite camps. I add minor luck tropies and i loot all green bags did more than 10 runs and the amount of greens is awesome i not find purples now. Also in the past i looted 2 mayor tropies of luck and one mayor of weapon + purples. With my new luck upgrade with the luck tropies i totally broken my loot. All green, no tropies, no recipes … nothing

seriously, do you guys know sample size? if you and your friend both play lottery 10 times he wins twice you dont win at all is it because your luck pants are not working or because you just didnt get lucky? do 5000 full chest runs and compare and you might be onto something. do 10 chest runs and do homer simpson math and youre just a joke. i agree though that it would be nice from AGS to confirm if luck is working as intended or if we could save our precious time because its broken anyways.

its ultra weird, did some test during this week.

I tried 25% to 30% luck and had nothing in the crates (no amulet).
Now i have 33% with my luck trophy (still no amulet) and it seems to be great : found lot of charms/receips in crates i hadn’t before. I dropped a legendary axe in a myrk yesterday and some 599.

And something i see, but its very speculative, i found my loots are a lot better with good perks like enchanted, crit chance for exemple.
