You fail at math. In your example it more than triples your chances of finding a Legendary item. I would still wear luck gear if this was the case.
Not true.
Someone on /r/newworldgame killed over 1000 boars to test the luck and found it increases drops by 100/1%.
How do you know this, about the threshold? I am curious, because I am trying to gather mats with luck buffs, and there is no disclosure of any “threshold” in the game, only percentage increases.
Information posted on websites like the new world database which came from datamining the game files. There’s a roll every time you loot something, and your default roll threshold isn’t high enough for some of the rare drops without a certain amount of luck.
I also have a set for good luck. And I also confirm that luck works with the food chests. But I never managed to be convinced on the supply chests and elite chests.
Maybe I’m trying to get artifacts for basic trophies in the wrong place? I run to all locations up to level 54. And I open up big supply chests and elite chests.
Tell me where to look for these artifacts?
You did not have to reply i that way to his post, his post made zero sense considering the testing you had done and that it is about been specked into luck which actually is meant to give luck.
You notice a difference for harvesting luck, mining, logging, etc but not chests and monster luck. Have over 30% luck chest/monsters and notice 0 difference other than gimping yourself
after running %45 luck for weeks i can wholeheartedly say that luck does jck sht.
i get better drops using my %0 luck heal gear. i bet how gathering luck was busted the same is for loot luck
I can confirm the same experience as most of the ppl in here, i dont fell the luck at all, is just visual text on items. I got better items without luck set and i got the most expencive items in game without luck items…
I can confirm that
Confirmed. I run over 60% luck when running stockpiles for furnishing items and I actually get more when I run with just luck on my bags.
What you are suffering from is called the gamblers fallacy. Google that and see if you don’t agree.
Putting any loot table, diminishing returns or possible bugs to the side. The difference between no bonus luck and a full bonus luck set is very small and the chance to get loot is still very small. What I understand is that we don’t get more loot with higher luck, just a higher chance to get higher quality loot. My guess is that only gear item level have a diminish return so that it’s guaranteed to increase over time.
What are the odds that you will win the lottery? One in millions. But what the odds that someone wins the lottery every week? Almost 100% sure. So when you compare yourself with that guy who won it doesn’t really say much.
It’s important to remember Luck and Yield are two different things.
Luck does not increase your yield, nor does it even help you with watermark. You can still get uncommon 600gs drops.
Luck just bumps you up the loot table to start including things that the game considers rarer. So maybe at 35% luck your loot table now has a .035% chance at a loaded dice, but still a 99.65% chance it’ll be uncommon garbage.
Pretend the luck stat is your attunment key for legendary drops, not more or even better drops.
no, this isn’t a proper understanding of gamblers fallacy.
gamblers fallacy would be believing that he has a better chance of succeeding because he tailed a bunch of times.
pointing out that your experience with a random generation over 4000 trials isn’t falling within predicted outcomes is just a data set. Whether that data set is a valid indicator of a problem depends on the expected rarity.
anyhow its not any one player’s job to prove conclusively there is an issue with the luck systems. All they can do is share their experiences with the systems, and their perspectives on it. Its also not the case that one should assume everything is working as intended in this game.
Especially considering this was the problem with harvesting legendary/rare components
And it boosts the chance you might have 2 attributes instead of 1 etc.
Also 30% isn’t 30%, its more like 3%.
Yeah but that’s why I talked about winning the lottery. It’s basically not data at all to look at one point.
I can promise you that whatever unlikely thing this person have experiences is extremely much less unlikely than someone winning the lottery every week. But someone wins the lottery every week.
What is the odds to get the loot he wants to get? Let’s say 0,01% chance. That gives him around 33% chance to win after 4000 tries. If it’s 0,1% it’s 98% chance. But hitting that 2% and get nothing is nothing extraordinary at all. Or 0,2% or 0,0002%. If it’s less than 100% sure you will win there is always a chance that you will never win.
There is apparently a have not played more than 24 hr short luck boost too (excluding updates), but I haven’t seen this yet.
true, but the question is, what were the odds of that item supposed to be? Many of these items aren’t supposed to be lottery level rarity.
even if he was unusually unlucky, he could just be the unlucky guy, so a bunch of people sharing their experience, even if its not an abberation is useful feedback.
I agree he hasn’t proven anything, however, it doesnt mean he is wrong either.
I think luck just mostly allows the drop to happen at all on some stuff. Pretty sure there is stuff in game that won’t drop at all without it. Other than that, if something say has a .01 chance to drop and you increase that chance by 100% its still not that much different.
