Rewarding players who go into Expeditions/Mutators with a focus on luck rather than a focus on their build is a horrible concept.
I’m sure some will say “but this should work itself out if the people with luck bring the group down”, and if you believe that then I have some exotic sand I’d like to sell you! Others might say “the best players will have good gear AND good luck”, which may be true for 0.03333% of players, but the other 99.96667% will end up sacrificing their build for luck just to keep up with the minority.
Luck should be removed from all drops in Expeditions/Mutators to encourage players to focus on their build rather than chasing rare drops.
I have been saying this in several posts.
Luck belongs in trophies only.
Choosing luck on gear is directly choosing to hinder your team in group activities.
That’s close to griefing which is against the ToS.
Just remove the goddamn luck from armor/pearla
Does it have foc/con AND skill perks AND refreshing or some other perk that benefit your class? If so then you are extremely lucky (pun intended). If not, then you are sacrificing your build in favor of luck.
It might not matter now for current expeditions provided the rest of your group is decent, but it will matter in Mutators. A good build has gear with correct attributes, has important skills perks, and has other perks that benefit your class.
Using one of your perk spots for luck is already sacrificing a perk that would be better for your build. The problem is worse when people choose to wear sub-par gear just because it has luck on it (which most certainly does happen). I have a full luck set with pearls that I run around with and the only good thing on the gear is appropriate attributes. I hate the feeling of putting that gear on but it’s meta.
Just use monstrous turkey dinners! I make sure to eat one before every supply crate or boar I kill. The other day I got a corrupted totem from a rabbit. (joking)
From my understanding the drop rates in the mutators are extremely high. I’m not sure luck will be an issue, and in any case most players that are at that 600GS threshold will probably be using voidbent as the entry level armor anyways which has 2.8% luck per part…
I assume the voidbent will probably need to be swapped out for BiS unless they are very highly skilled before they get to mutator 10.
You’re kind of proving my point. Healers should not be wearing Voidbent Armor in an expedition or mutator. Healers need to ensure they have Fortifying Sacred Ground, Mending Protection (once it’s fixed), and they should be looking for perks like Refreshing, not any of the perks that’s on Voidbent. I’m sure all classes have some skill perks they should be running and other perks that would be more suited for their role in the expedition.
The only reason to use Voidbent over other gear is because of the luck perk (yes the other two perks are good for survivability, but not all builds should be focusing on those as primary). People are choosing the armor because of the luck rather than looking for perks that increase their damage/healing output.
As for luck not being needed in Expeditions, luck does factor into your chances of getting better drops, specially those expedition named drops. I want Will of the Ancients and I consider using luck gear with pearls over gear/gems more suited for healing just so I have a better chance of having that drop for me. That shouldn’t be a consideration!
