Drop Fire Staff, switch to Void Gauntlet, and “enjoy” the left click spam fest that it is while having way better survivability, damage output, and utility than fire staff now.
I literally just use FS for the dash now. It’s a trash tier weapon otherwise.
You’d get more damage dumping those 75 extra points into Int. You’d do more damage if you had a relevant DPS perk on your musket.
Musket DPS comes from three places. The inherently strong dual-attribute scaling, elemental conversion and headshots.
Dual attribute scaling means that the base damage of the weapons can be a fair margin higher then pure attribute scaling weapons, due to how DR interacts with stat stacks. For instance, each point in Int, from 5-100 will give you more damage then a point in Dex, if your Dex stat exceeds 150.
Elemental conversions allow for the Musket, which is ~65% elemental in proper spec, to deal consistently high damage to most targets, regardless of their gem slotting.
Headshots bypass the only effective player-affecting damage reduction perk, Resilient, at the moment. This makes their headshots deal far more damage then a regular crit is capable of.
You should be dealing far more damage with a Musket, then any mage weapon single target wise. My base damage on my war musket build is almost 1900 with food/honing stone.
There’s a middle ground between “They can turn off their brain” and “Even the best FS/IG’s struggle to be relevant in any capacity”.
Their ST is worse then Musket. Their AoE is worse then Bow. Their mobility is worse then anything Dex with a Rapier. Their CC potential is basically non-existent.
There is essentially no reason to go FS or IG. They excel at nothing. They aren’t better at anything another class isn’t better at.
agreed. mages need work. iv hear “we are a Aoe class” but yet it seems just about every other weapon can smash us on dmg/Aoe… In PVE i now just use VG b/c i can pump about 20-30% more dmg… only time i even bring out a Fire staff is for a poke in PVP… and even then id rather have a bow/musket lol but dont have the weapon skills
The IG 1 hit is the most inconsistent ability in the game. You land it, sometimes it hit’s once, sometime it hits twice, sometimes it hits 4 times. It’s never consistent.
300dex, rest in INT, 5 con, arcane gem in musket is the build sir. You’ll gain over 250 base damage on your musket. Anything else, you’re tickling kids.
This is so extremely ironic . Sounds exactly like you and why you want mage weapons to be buffed. So you can win for free against better players and never bother to learn how to play.
That you disagree with me does not mean I am uninformed. Compared to you I have actually come up with arguments and examples that proves what you are saying is wrong. You just state your opinions, but nothing more.
You may disagree with me as much as you like. That is fine, but to me you are the biased one. I understand that there is no reason to continue discussing with you because even if you had clear evidence that mages are fine right before your nose you would still not be able to see them.
I honestly want all weapons to be as balanced as possible. The game and pvp combat overall would be much more interesting if we see more variety and more builds are viable. I already see plenty of mages though and those weapons are more than viable.
