Mage unbalanced isn't even the word

It does with the perk deadly showers.

100% this. imo there isn’t a big enough penalty for wearing heavy armor. i feel like heavy armor should mean that you receive less healing, are less capable of using magic, and receive more magic damage. that should apply to medium armor too, but to a lesser degree.

It does with the weapon perk.

I agree, i just crafted a full 590s perfect perks fire staff void gaunt set and my god is it an absolute wet noodle. It doesnt even compare to my bow build… they really need to buff the fire staff because its complete dog shit right now

Agreed, (fire) mages are usually this insanely powerful glass cannon style build with fun utility and cool abilities but it feels like a totally wasted weapon slot. Im hoping the celestial gauntlet brings some fun “magey” type stuff into the game

Lol using one pro player to balance average skilled players is the stupidest thing to say/do. But okay.
Super good pvpers prob only make up 5% of the whole class.
If u gonna use that 5% statistic to balance the rest 95% mages, then ure dumb af.

I mean this guy has 418 int and is hitting about as hard as a 200 str GA.

that’s the damn truth

FS: This weapon has zero CC yet hits like a wet noodle unless you are light with 400 int. Half of the abilities require you to go into melee range which is a death trap.

IG: For a weapon all about CC it has the shortest duration root in the game. The basic combo of Ice Shower > Heavy > Ice Spike is a 50/50 since the shower only lasts 1s and the heavy for the refreeze takes 1.5s. Both Ice Storm and Shower are super easy to iframe out of. Currently without the unending thaw perk you will never get a heavy freeze from Ice Storm as people are already on their way out of the storm as your heavy is going out.

Let’s agree with 2 very simple points? (Express your opinions if you disagree)

  • I can find in YouTube/Twitch ANY weapon being OP and come here to the forum and post it and say the weapon is OP. (Because surprise, there are very very good players out there that clip videos from hours and hours of gameplay in a 10m video)
  • “Mage” = Ice Gauntlet + Fire Staff.

Make Fireball Crit. Make our attacks do the same kind of damage other weapons do? If the balance to light armor is you go down like a sack of potatoes, you should be able to equally do that amount of damage. When you can hit the same player 10x times and not even dent them but they can 2-3 shot you it’s not balanced… WHY DID YOU ASK WHAT SHOULD BE NERFED YOU BAFOON???

They removed the armor scaling so now you should actually wear 600 gear. It used to rebalance all gear score to an even the playing field, but its not needed anymore because after 3 months you should not still be using 520 faction gear. You are missing 80 gs of mitigation on each of your armor pieces.

Incinerate represents everything I want in FS. I slam my staff into the ground, it feels badass, I conjure a circle of flames. The reality is I make a circle smaller than most hammer users aoe, I have to stand in place, which if I’m in light gear will lead to my death, and the end result is I tickle the people I hit, if I hit, and my reward is a miniscule heal.

I feel like there are two routes. If my skills are going to continue to be weak, buff our ranged attacks, make them pierce or aoe on hit. That seems to be our archetype, weak damage done in an aoe.

The second route is to make our skills actually meaningfully. Maybe each magic weapon needs a system that increases output, we shouldn’t out damage Dex ranged users, but maybe we can everyone in awhile when our system hits. Perhaps fire users build up heat over time that can be exchanged to cast an upgraded version of our spells. Maybe ice creates a debuff on the players they hit that if it reaches a certain stack level results in that player taking major frost damage.

Right now it doesn’t feel like we have a win condition other than play perfectly, take no hits, and you’ll get a kill, but you probably won’t be on the level of people rocking physical weapons.

Make mages great again. Also can we have fireball work as intended.

passive regen with 12k hp = 120 hp sec

This is what happens when they give 20+ nerfs to a class, just bad balancing let’s be honest. Your issue is partially because you are prob showing the damage against full voidbent which is magic heavy resist. But yea mages arent in a good spot, i’m changing to bow/rapier

To some extent it’s not that there is a problem with specific gear or weapon but it will initially present as such. I’ve been testing this out with people in my company and the issue is that NW doesn’t have relatively steady increases in power but huge jumps. So you have no-lifers that can grind out the best of the best and instead of giving them a 10-30% (or whatever numbers are for example’s sake) advantage it’s much bigger.

The majority of musket hits (normal and crits) are what I consider reasonable for the type of armor I am wearing at the time. Same for Fire Staff and other weapons. There are a number of people (and after you run OPR for awhile you know the no-lifers and the cheaters on your server pretty quickly). This group either has a secret sauce or they just have the very best and it gives them a huge advantage. These guys are hitting you 3-4K and crits 5-8K. And it’s not the GS of the item but your highwater mark of the weapon.

You see it on the opposite end too. GS600 musket with all the nice dmg addons barely can take down some light armor types (you can tell how good the gear is by how hard you hit them, but you would be surprised how good some light armor is with HWM of 600 all around), forget a nicely kitted Heavy. And I’m not the only one. BUT the members in our company that have grinded out that HWM 600 musket score, they can hit with almost any weapon like an 18 wheeler. We’ve gone into OPR in groups to test out dmg against each other and it bears out.
