Mages are OP and here is why (Oh sorry, wrong game)

Anecdotal experience here, but pls tell this to the insane muskets when they absolutely fail at playing any other build. I see it a lot.

I don’t completely disagree with this either, but we are here on the forums. Cannot really stress enough how much hyperbole is flying around here.

Do mages consist of anything besides fire staff for the forums opinion? Because IG/VG is very strong in and well represented in wars. Fire staff’s are too depending on the war.

its mostly FS, but even VG/IG are more used in war for their support utility. They have some decent dmg in there but a lot of it has been gimped.

Id rather the devs rework all mage weapon so 1 tree is more spellcaster the other is more battlemage designed to be played w an offhand but that kind of swap dependent ability tree is prolly too much.

Problem is devs went w spell casting and auto attacks and auto attacks from mages are going to just lose compared to dex autos and melees that can cleave. So they really need to up the auto attack side of the trees and open up the spell casting side w some better burst combo or range.

I have 2400+ hours on Firestaff. I’ve stuck with it through thick and thin. It is objectively bad right now, it’s not an opinion. How much more effort you think I should put into it?

There are only a few competitive servers. I find most people saying it’s fine play on servers full of 50 con bots.

You don’t even need to look at PVP. The fact that literally noone wants a Firestaff in any mutation even ones with 30% increase damage with fire, tells you everything. Add to that, only 1-3 Firestaves allowed in competitive wars IF THAT, and only if you are BIS to the teeth and absolute top tier player. You don’t have to look further to see it’s in a rough ass spot atm.

I don‘t fully disagree with this, although IG got some pretty significant nerfs this patch, which massively reduced the overall damage output and pushed IG/VG into a pure utility role for wars. The upcoming Bile Bomb heartrune will also be a pretty good alternative in Wars to running IG/VG to apply healing debuffs in key moments.

I already know that my opinion is unpopular. If a weapon isn’t the most effecient thing, that doesn’t mean it’s bad. If I had to put it into percentage form, it’s my opinion that like 60% of it is skill issue and the other 40% is warranted and somewhat overblown complaints.

i am like the only firestaff main on here, saying firestaff isn’t weak… go check all the firestaff posts… I think it needs some QOl changes and a few trait reworks, like most of traits give mana, which is useless. Anyways i think its mainly a user error.

They won’t be useless if anyone plans on using flamethrower still haha.

yes they will? why run any of those traits, when better ones are available and you can just pop a mana pot to go to max mana which has a 10 second cd with refreshing toast. Plus focused is decent now as well.

VG doesn’t have burst potential and most skills are for buff/debuff, it’s a support mage, not a real damage mage. Damage/points on wars doesn’t tell you about real effectiveness, you basic just farm damage on clumps, but the DOT is weak. It’s like playing with meteor shower, you score tons of damage at the end, but doesn’t mean you played well, bursted or even killed a lot of people, it’s completely inefficient.

Really depends on just how bad the mana consumption will be

When the game came out they made a set of Voidbent for all the non op classes.

As a firestaff player myself, ive always thoufgt a single buff could be used to try bump firestaff to beeing relevant. Rework the reheat ult on pyromancy to if you got 5+burns on target, you shred armor. Not a rend, but take away armor value, so you can have some utility in wars, + lower cast time of incinerate to 1 sec and give it a slow. Wouuld openn it up to be good in assasin squards

IG/VG is must be at War, FS/IG is average. You need builds which, have CCs, buffs your allies and debuffs strong oponents. FS/IG perks make stronger only the user = is more like solo build it works in OPR and arenas it looks fine it has good damage and utility but in bigger content ( tbh bigger content we have only wars…) is just average.

It still will not be enough if you compare it to VG/IG where you have, double purge, double root, rends, slows, empower for allies and stamina regen for melees if you play on critical rate cap you have almost 0 cooldown …

Vg IG IS SUPPORT class it is not MAGE. VG IS MOSTLY SUPPORT weapon, IG as secondary in this case is only for tomb and slow. The main is VG

MAGE IS DPS CLASS MEANING FIRESTAFF ICE where both are used as DPS.

i also have no idea, why the fuck mana consumption is even making the discussion? do you really run out of mana? i thought that’s impossible, i haven’t used a mana potion since they buffed mana regen.
