Maintenance hours suggestion

Can you please stop doing maintenances during day? Can you please start them at 3am local time so it won’t affect most of the people. I understand that maintenance can take longer than expected, but why is this in the middle of the day in the first place?

Well they are based in the US and it’s 12:00 there right now, and the update started give or take 6-7 hours ago. Take a guess why it started at that time…

amazon game studios has multiple locations…but sure. If the updates started 12pm my local time, that means they started it 3am US (california) time so why wouldnt they be able to do it 3am europe local time which would be 6pm for them? Your argument makes 0 sense, feels like you were trying to act a bit smart here to no avail…

Because they have set working hours and they are based in Washington. And while there might be other locations for the studios the main decision comes out from there, thus they start in the beginning of their shift. Why is it fair to force workers to work afterhours, but not fair to limit access to the game for a small amount of time?

I know that it’s all because of US. All i mean is, every good multiplayer game, can do maintenances at local time for each server. So why is US special to have maintances lined up to them?

Sure. 3am is fair hour for workers to work and do maintenances. Bro pls

Tbh I highly doubt their “set working times” start at 6am, but thats when they started the update (if they actually are doing it from washington that is).
They could very well just pay people overtime to come in 3 hours earlier to start the update for EU region, and then do US region later. I would say its pretty clear they prioritize US over EU a lot.

Huh? It’s fair to force others work at 3 am so that you could play at 5PM? It’s not, limiting your access to a game, A GAME, is not a big deal. Go out, do something while the maintenance is ongoing.

Yeah, they did start quite early in their working day, probably because they wanted to do it as fast as possible. But the workers also have lives, families, etc. Pushing them to work super early or late has a bigger impact on their lives compared to limiting access to a video game for a few hours. It’s not like they can choose to work or not to, I’m pretty sure they all have to work during updates

Dude. They started at 3am THEIR LOCAL TIME so they already work at 3am. I have day off work and I can’t play the video game I’ve paid for because I’ve got maintenance during afternoon. I will just end on responding to you. Think before you say anything next time.

Surely it’s not the time they start the update that’s the problem but the guy chasing after the hot girl in the office

Go out do something? I’ve worked all day and its now 7pm my local time and server is still down. If we are lucky they are up in 1hour and then I get what? 2hours of game before I have to go to bed (if i want a good nights sleep before waking up to work again). I payed for something to be available to me and when it’s not ofc I will have opinions regarding it, and regarding how it could be improved.

if they wuld work 1 day every two week night shift, they wuld die or what? srsly people work at night aswell! there is sooo many companies that working on servers during night time, blizzard for example, GGG and so on…

Blizzards work ethic is not a very good example tbh, I do get the point about working nights, but it’s not a good practice to treat your employees like that

Same and now I am enjoying a show on Netflix, there are way too many things to do instead of playing the game while they are pushing out an update. While you did pay for the game downtime is also expected like with any other service that we pay for. For example you do pay for hot water, but it gets shut off for a day or two while they are working on the pipes, same thing here.

I mean…could you imagine netflix having downtime? the outrage? how is this any different? Here we even get REGULAR downtimes (i played wow, its not like im not used to downtime) but its just shit poor planning from their part on when, and perhaps how, it gets done.
Also if I want to watch Netflix, I’ll watch Netflix, like I do many times a week without issue.
If I want to play a game I payed for I kinda expect it to be similar, I don’t expect to see a “server offline” during peak time of gaming (for ppl that work).

threat like what? im i threated bad because i drive bus somtime at night? and i love night shift because its more paid then day. give them a choice and pay them 100% more if they work at night, i beleve 80% wuld sign instantly

They most likely need all hands on deck, so no choice in it, even if you pay more. You take away a day of quality time with the family/friends etc. They are people just like everyone of us. If my job forced me to work 1-2 nights per week it would be quite bad. Same in this case.

It was an example, even cloudflare goes offline sometimes with that a huge chunk of internet goes dark too. Everything that is online is subject to limit your access at times. Facebook/Insta went down recently and a lot of crybabies cried (I don’t mean the ones that have businesses there, but the ones that want to browse away). But it’s back up again and nothing bad happened, just adjust and spend your time elsewhere
