Bind On Equip is different from BoP. You missed my point entirely. You cannot sell the Potion of Tyrannis or the Brown Potion, these are PvP craft mods.
Mh? Yes you cant sell them, but you can sell the crafted item. It is an easy way to make profit for crafters by getting them from the reward track and then craaft with them.
Previously you wrote
which is just false.
If the Scarab is BoP, but the crafted item is BoE, I won’t mind this at all. OP has a point though. If the Scarab is BoE the ones that would be in so much advantage are the mega-rich since they will just buy it all up and they’ll be the first ones to get all the good pieces. If it’s BoP, they would have to work just as hard as everyone else.
On the plus side, crafters can actually benefit from this since they can be more valuable. They can farm the Scarabs and charge extra if anyone wants to craft using it.
It’d be like:
Do you want a regular craft? Give me the mats. Tips are optional.
Do you want to use a scarab? Give me the mats + extra equivalent to the value of the scarab.
The crafter who can diligently farm will be the winner.
My point is a little bit different. Through supply and demand, Golden Scarabs will only be used for the biggest and most expensive crafts in the game (which are usually done by mega-rich, since they are ok with losing money for a while before they are making profit). So it is not because mega-rich want to control the market (I do not think that that would be possible on most servers), it is rather through supply and demand, that BoE Scarabs will only be used by a handful of people, which is a bad design of the Scarabs imo.
I did not think about this one tho. Actually a very good point.
Its pretty easy to not trade back the item until the person tips. Folks expect 20% in real life for doing nothing but spen hours to be able to provide a service in game folks thinknits okay to not tip or pay something lol.
Worst idea ever. Why u want to make game more hard. Let people access bis items more.
Or just dont trade the item back at all? Even more profit.
It does not matter if Scarabs are BoE or BoP. In both cases, there will be more BiS items on the market.
For me personally the lack of fully functioning economics (that doesnt ebb and flow, and is not dependant on people leveling their skills) is actually what’s giving me such grief in finding an MMO I really like.
Aside from that sidetrack, but as comment to the OP:
In that vein, making any crafting resource BoP makes no sense…
See that is reportable probably get you banned.
When you craft for tips and wait for a tip thats fulfilling the agreement you made when you traded the goods.
Im fine trading you back mats and keeping the bis item i crafted if your not going to tip.
No tip, no goods.
Could you explain this please? To me BoP craafting mats is the easiest way to keep crafting profitable and also easy to balance.
The people complaining they want it BoP are the same complaining about tp prices. Even if large scale crafters buys every mod, the market will be full of good/useful gear at decent prices which help the majority. Lots of people run reek etc for trophy mats as a way of income which would leave the scarabs stuck in their inventory with no value. I’ve got all tradeskills outfits trophies but only craft what I need but the majority of people dont want to level nor will ever craft. Another gatekeep if changed
The chests that drop Golden Scarabs (Elite Ancient chests, Grave Offerings) do not drop Trophy mats, nor aanything else valuable. There are also only 2 of them in Reekwater. You were farming them for Gear score increases previously in Shattered Mountain.
There will be more good/ useful gear in the market either way. You could just increase the drop chance if there were not enough crafts made with it.
A far better solution would make it so that players could not craft everything themselves or rather should be forced to make a choice.
Just like we have to choose between 2 weapons, you should be able to choose between 2 professions.
For example, master armorsmith, master miner.
That way people would have to go to crafters to get there stuff done.
Thereby allowing for good trade.
Instead of everyone slowly becoming self sufficient and needing no one else.
Not practical anmore
i would make that items crafted with golden scarabs are bind on pickup . but you dont need trophies or clothing to craft within 595-600 range . then leveling up professions is finally worth it
market is already full off legendaries and the drops from dungeon and pvp track are not really worth it anymore . with golden scarabs it will make all gear/ rewards from pvp track dungeons ect pointless
I mean, from a larger perspective it is about whether you want to see crafting as the driving force for your virtual economy, or as just another silly mini-game for players to sink time into.
To be fair, New World initially messed up significantly in this area and already leans fairly heavily into the silly mini-game direction, but I still have a tiny hope they might fix that over time.
And BoP crafting resources encourage ppl to craft for the sake of it, not because they can make money of it, and therefore leans into the silly mini-game direction.
Crafting for the sake of it also costs money, that in a proper virtual economy could be more cleverly used elsewhere. And if you dont want to waste that, the BoP materials essentially becomes a wasted drop, worth no more than vendor trash.
Not to mention the pure gatherers, they will never have any use for it at all. And if you think pure gathering is silly, well it just proves how much they messed up the idea of a truly player driven economy in the first place.
agree - make them BOP.
IMO its worse for just about everyone to make them bind on pickup.
I like to farm things and sell them, its basically what you do with just about everything in the game, except for some weapons and armour, why should this be any different.
I believe Golden Scarabs should stay Bind on Equipped.
Here’s why, having them Tradable allows for a market value, more abundance of chest farming, open world exploring and maybe even more open world pvp.
They will increase the value of all secondary perk craftmods, and make it more acquirable for those that don’t want to chest farm for hours to get 1.
On Ptr i got every Sarcophagus and elite chest in brimstone sands for 1 day it took me 8 hours, i got 6. Granted i wasn’t flagged, nor had any luck gear however 8 hours of chest farming/day is something not every player wants to do. Then add the existing 2 1/2 hour elite run to it. It would be slower with bigger groups cause Sarcos require contribution in order to reap the rewards.
It’s not like you’re rolling BIS every time, it’s 2 perks, with somewhere close to a 20% chance of legendary if you’re lucky, also like 10% chance the 3rd perk is usable. So bulk acquiring is kinda needed still, requires 3 timeless shards, 25 attribute craftmods, then the mats and the 2 perk craftmods, why limit something that’s gonna cost 100-200k for a legendary.
I personally would like to roll 2 perk ward gear for all mutations, and i work 40 hours a week, so grinding sarcos isnt in my best interest. I don’t care if a super rich company like Supple makes their already BIS gear even better, this will help other companies acquire gear as well, and in short eventually provide decent competition for them.
